Or you can tell them that English and Spanish are some of the easiest languages to learn...

Both are not exceptionally simple, there is the entire Turkic family and most of the austronesian family and
vast swathes of the world are filled with things like Indonesian such as Quechua.

The problem is that Europe won in linguistics in the first world. The rest of the world can't all have stuff like
Russian, can they? Things are far more stable over there.

Would you rather I have an 18th century view of linguistics?

No, I would like you to read the post you quoted again carefully before you take it as an
opportunity to stab features of languages you hate. You entirely missed her point in your
haste to criticize.

As for the 18th century comment... The only possible replies to that would be insulting.

I'm not implying you have an 18th century view at all, but that an 18th century view is what I am against and ask
what you would think if I was an 18th century believer.

I understood your comment. My response stands. Now go back and read what Serpent said.

It doesn't matter anyway.
None of my points have ever been disproven, the common tactic now is to just act "appalled" and take some moral
high ground no matter how upsetting the truth of what languages are like due to their features and because of that
there are an extreme amount of misguided people who are complete half wits in the west.
