Hi there. This is to organize the people who wish to study one of East-Asian languages. You can sign up simply by stating that you intend to tackle TAC 2012 as part of this team. Do this both in this thread as well as in the official TAC 2012 thread.
So far we have the following members.
EmersoninKorea: Korean
petrklic: Vietnamese
The Real CZ: Korean, Japanese
zhanglong: Mandarin, Cantonese
Warp3: Korean
sundance: Japanese, (Vietnamese), (Thai)
druckfehler: Korean
(Chung: Mongolian)
When you create a log for your language(s), let me know and I'll update the above table.

If I could commit to restarting Mongolian in 2012 (see my suspended log from 2007), I would sign up (provided also that Mongolian falls under the definition of "East Asian").
For now it's just a crazy idea and so I don't feel comfortable signing up for something that currently has a fairly low priority.

If we get a few people, I am game for this team. And don't count out some Japanese or Mandarin learns... maybe they will just like us more than the other teams!
So, just to reiterate:
-Language: Korean
-Current level: ~A2
-Goals by the end of the year: Be able to hold everyday-type conversations on non-complicated issues. Be able to read and write at the same level. (B1)
-I am actually in Korea now and will be until 2013.
I would love it if we could grab a few Korean learners!
Thanks for making the team,
Emerson

Oh, I should add my entry, too!
Language: Vietnamese
Current level: 0
Goals by the end of the year: A1. Or whatever, really. If it turns out to be too tough, I'll be happy to just do whatever I can. The goal is mostly not to give up, the rest will take care of itself ;)

I think it as well might. I've already smuggled in Vietnamese ;)
I've read through your log, and Mongolian sounds interesting. It will be cool if you decide to revive your study!

I have seen the "A1" "B1" etc for the language levels... where are those listed?

^ This is the scale they're referring to.
I'll be joining with Korean and Japanese.
