I have only missed one review since I started about seven months ago. Some weeks I've
been adding about 160 cards whereas at one point I went two weeks without adding any at
all. (The reviews dropped down to 30/day)
I don't think I would have kept at it if I did single-word translation cards instead of
sentence-understanding cards, though. Every review session is more or less like reading
a weird, incohesive book. :p
16-Feb edit:
Added my 3000th Japanese flashcard to Anki today. :D
I felt that it was worth a mention, but perhaps not its own post. :p

I would love to read some reviews of the books you've been reading when you can get around to it.

Perhaps later, Brun. I'm awful at retaining any information beyond basic story elements
from any book I've read so far regardless of language. I'll try to write a short one in
Japanese in a few days' time though.
Also, I got my semester one marks back today; ~65 average (upper second) with marks
ranging from 46 to 86. My personal tutor allowed me and a few others to peek at the
marks, hence the "~"-average mark. It was much better than I feared; I expected one or
two fails and 50-something average...
Proves that you can still get decent marks even though you study two languages on the
side. :p

さぁ, february summary.
The daily goals [explanations in post 79]:
German:
Add 5 Anki cards: 27/28
Read 2 news articles: 21/28
1 hour of "active" listening: 28/28
Japanese
Add 10 Anki cards: 28/28
Read 2 news (or 3 NHKEasy) articles: 25/28
Read "10 pages" of a book: 20/28
1 hour of "active" listening: 28/28
("some" means 10 pages when I copied a txt-rip into word; キノの旅 = 232 pages)
("active" means listening and paying attention; music/radio doesn't count.)
With the Anki goals and the reading goal counted twice, the total is 252/280 = 90 %.
Added Anki cards:
German: 181 (129% of 5x28)
Japanese: 429 (153% of 10x28)
I did fulfill all of my daily aims during the second half of the month, however I was
becoming slightly obsessed. This had a slightly negative impact on my engineering study
habits, so I have to dismiss this system for now to focus more on my studies. Its
positive effect was that I forced myself to be more consisent in my studies/immersion.
For March, my only goals are Anki related. However, since I don't use shared decks
(because I would never imagine using core25k without getting really, really bored with
it), the Anki cards are a product of my immersion, which means that "add 10 anki cards"
imply at least some immersion.
I have also started reading Zero's Familiar, which seems very interesting right now
(just read the first chapter). I also bought the first Harry Potter book in German a
few months ago, but I'm still on the first chapter. Reading in German on paper isn't
that painful (no microscopic 20-stroke kanji), so I might pick up that one again...
Peace out. :)
(I jumped back and forth a lot whilst writing this post, so lease forgive any
incoherency.)

Excellent achievements in February. Congratulations! Of course your engineering studies must be your highest priority, so you can always adjust your language goals to fit your needs. Or reach for the stars: are there German or Japanese versions of your engineering texts? :)
