Yes, I've also heard some of the Langenscheidt ones are good and some are bad. ... Do you know if it is language specific or the type of dictionary? |

I have a rather thick one here, humorously titled 'Handwörterbuch' and weighting nearly 4 lbs. 600+ pages of German -> Spanish plus 600+ of Spanish -> German, with grammar references at the beginning of each section and claiming to be professional grade. So far it seems to be: lots of usual and unusual collocations per entry, apparently well sorted. It has helped me to find quite a few typos when translating from a German original, and the day I was in the mood to look up 'pimplar' (a rather quirky, somewhat dated synonym for 'drinking') it came up with 'picheln', which I was told by a native is exactly that: a rather quirky, somewhat dated synonym for 'drinking'.

Is that a journal entry? (Did you just travel 16 hours to get to Bath?)

Yup... Started at 9 from home and arrived at half past midnight. :p (Then add an hour
because of time zone change.)
It's not really a log entry... It was just me expressing my relief after finally
reaching Bath.

What? Did you walk?! I can get to the US in that amount of time (if I'm lucky).
It's funny, but my eye is still drawn to Latin letters more than to Japanese, so I read the German for your entry first even though I don't study it.

I live on the Norwegian countryside. After the three hours it took to get to Trondheim,
my travel consited of 2 flights, 2 bus rides, a train ride, and a bit of waiting here
and there. I think I could have optimised it to only take about 11-12 hours.
The flights are usually quite a minor part of getting from A to B, in terms of how much
time it takes.

16hours..?! This is waaay too long!
And just a small correction of your entry, which might be useful: it's not 16時 but 16時
間かかった :)
