As for the 6WC, I managed to reach the rank 6. I am glad to see that the Sputnik team is doing very well in this challenge.

I finally ended my Russian history book "From Rurik to Catherine", quite interesting, funny and a lot of learning. It's labeled "B2".

Update to this neglected log:
Lots of work at the office but still I have managed to end my Russian book "Baba Yaga", 100 pages, 21 days, labeled A3 (although according to wikipedia there is no A3, just A2 or B1).
Stuck in Assimil lesson 50. It's time to get moving.
Glad to see NCLRC has updated Russian simplified news. I was afraid the site was inactive.

Update:
Since the last log entry, I keep studying Assimil, but a slower rate. I am now studying the Russian movement verbs, there are very interesting and subtle nuances aboout these verbs. On the other hand I have made some improvement in reading Russian news.

Sort of. I had to go back to Assimil lesson 32 because I needed to review motion verbs and vocabulary. I am now back at lesson 58.
I have devoted lots of time to reading euronews. Now I am reading three articles daily.
I was trying to read a Russian novel (Понедельник начинается в субботу ) but it is excruciatingly slow.
Guess what? Yesterday I went to a library and found four outstanding books: a Russian syntax manual, a collection of graduated readings, a book about motion verbs, and a book entitled "Так говорят русские".
I am going to take a week's holiday at work. Let's see how much I advance.
I hope skype sessions will restart soon.
Russian is getting more and more interesting. I will probably study it two or three more years before moving to French, German or Japanese (if I manage to convince the daughter of one of my friends from the job, who is interested in Japanese, so we study it together).

Also I have some new contacts in tweeter (amazingly, I have more Russian followers than Mexican ones) and new contacts in sharedtalk.
