I'm sure some people would become interested in the language if they could hear it in use by actors like Colin Farrell/Liam Neeson/Pierce Brosnan, bands like Boyzone/Westlife/U2/Waterboys/Cranberries etc. (or whoever people might find "cool" enough).

I'm not sure of how useful cultural exports would be for a language like Irish (it
couldn't possibly benefit from a Dora the Explorer-type show: remember the Morbegs?!) ...but while we're on the subject of Irish language TV, Corp agus Anam is an excellent Irish language crime thriller, which should be available on the TG4 website. It's been picked up by BBC Alba I hear, but I can't see an English-language station touching it (like they did with Wallander or whatever.) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

The future of Irish is like the future of Nynorsk,
if most children hate studying it, I don't think it can survive for long. Eventually, it will be like Sanskrit in India, and Latin in Europe, a language people study for 2 years in high school, and which is used in an occasional proverb, but not anymore in real life.
