Our little team has grown to 17 members and given the experience level of some of our
members it's very likely we'll survive (and even thrive in) 2013 as a team. So unless
anyone disagrees, I say we only accept up to three more people who apply for membership
this week. If you disagree with having any more than 17 members or with having a limit,
please speak soon or forever hold your salaam/shalom :)

I understand your logic. However, I disagree with having that limit in particular. At least in this team's case.

Let me explain why: as far as I see it, this is a very special group. Having been built around a geographical concept, it includes languages belonging to several families and with several alphabets. And I find this amazing. Really. I love to be in this team.

On the other hand, we have (if I read correctly) 11 persons learning Arabic, 5 learning Persian, 3 learning Hebrew, one learning Somali and one learning French. This does not help if you want to share learning strategies. No matter how interesting it looks on the outside.

So, my point is: if we accept just three more people, then (depending on the mix of those three) we'll risk turning down the fourth Hebrew learner, or the second Somali one. Such interesting people would never be able to form a group on their own.

Therefore, I suggest we cross that bridge if and when we get there (we still have three "normal" vacancies left), and by then do it case by case.

By the way, Johanna, I take this occasion to thank you for your work in keeping this team organised.

Excellent point Luso, the Persian and Hebrew learners we have are so active and
supportive of each other that I didn't realize there was so few of them.

I'll post on the sign-up thread that we're open until further notice then.

Thanks, this is my first TAC so I want to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Johanna, thanks from me also for volunteering to organize this.

For the Persian learners, I found a site that hosts a hyperlinked version of The Little Prince in Persian along with audio recordings of the text. I think it could prove useful to folks! The audio is playable with RealPlayer.

Here's the link if you would include it on the main resource page: The Little Prince

Hendrek, thank you! This is absolutely great. Although it's still far above my level, I'm looking forward to using that page!

Thank you for sharing, Hendrek.

How did everyone's first week go? I haven't written my update yet, but I will today. I got off to a slow start, but it
was a start nonetheless. :)

Well, I still haven't got to the point where I'm back doing Hebrew yet, but that's what I expected. I'm still settling into my new routine and that simply takes time and effort.

Developing the habit, I've found, is the hardest thing about language learning. I've got everything else sorted (techniques, languages picked, resources, etc).

First week has gone pretty well. I got through a few more Assimil lessons and Chai &
conversation podcasts. Not as much as I would have liked, but work has been especially
busy recently and I've been getting home late. I agree with Malek that building the good
routine around all of life's activities is often the hardest part.

Hi all!
I decided to switch my TAC to individual so please remove me from the group.
I will still be reading your logs to learn about your experiences and progress though
