I don't know if it's written correctly, but I can understand it perfectly without a dictionary. That means something, doesn't it? I guess Josqin or someone will correct you.
By the way, what do you mean by using the words you know 'creatively'? I guess you're talking about verbs with prefixes and the like, but I'm not sure. |

I am still at the beginning of Michel Thomas, so I didn't mean prefixes. You learn several words, and suddenly he asks you to say a new sentence, combining what you already know, maybe adding a new word that he gives you as help. For me this is very useful because it sort of unlocks my brain, and makes me realize the potential combinations of words I already know. As much as I like Pimsleur, and I do, I like this aspect of the MT method as well. I feel a bit more involved and creative. Maybe it's an illusion, but it's a good one! :)

Hi Penelope, good luck with your studies! I corrected your text for you. You can post your German texts here and I'll correct them when I read them. Have fun learning German! :)

I will not be updating this log for duration of the the 6 week challenge. Hopefully, by the end of it, I will be able to produce some sentences in German. The courses I use are assimil and MT. I stopped using anything else, because that slows me down in my effort to get a basic grasp of the language. I will follow these two courses, and after I complete them, then I'll continue with more.

An audio recording of the small text above.
The German text, that is.

It seems a good idea. Too much material could turn into a drawback. Sometimes it's better to focus on a single method rather than exploring too much options at the time.
I think it doesn't matter if you are away during the challenge, since you'll be working on German!

I agree with you. I am grateful for all the material available, but I seem to be on the first step all the time, because I didn't use them wisely. Greed! It never ends up well.
