book2 - Like I said, I'm having lessons that focus on specific grammar topic with examples, so I'm going to enjoy it a lot! Besides, now it's only 19 lessons to go!
მან ერთი ნაჭერი შოკოლადი აიღო. She took a piece of chocolate. Is it the aorist? ის [კაცი] ზარმაცი იყო, ის [ქალი] კი - ბეჯითი. He was lazy, but she was hard-working. მე ყოველთვის ძალიან ზარმაცი ვარ. მე უნდა ბეჯითად სწავლა! I learned a new word for 'but', არამედ: ის სიმპატიური კი არ იყო, არამედ უშნო. He was not friendly, but unfriendly. Now comes the longest lesson of all at Lehrbuch der Georgischen Sprache. I'm done with browsing through lesson 21. A long paragraph on the history of successive invasions in Georgia, for which I had trouble understanding the German vocabulary as well. Several verbal forms. I couldn't understand all of the sentences at the exercise but nothing special seemed to remain.
Now I'm going to try some texts, and I'm worried that my German will also be lagging behind as to allow me to learn Georgian. I'll have to keep comparing texts as well as translating word by word. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

book2, one more lesson on the (several) past tense(s).
სასწრაფო უნდა გამოგეძახა? Did you have to call an ambulance? Which tense is გამოგეძახა? გაქვთ ტელეფონის ნომერი? წესით უნდა მქონდეს Do you have the telephone number? I had it just now. - I don't get this sentence, წესით უნდა მქონდეს. Does it mean I had it until right now and had just lost it? Lehrbuch's 22nd lesson, that is, my first Georgian text!!
It was about ვახტანგ გორგასალი and the foundation of Tbilisi. I liked it a lot! I had read it before, but in Georgian, that's something else. It was much more logical than the past dialogues that were complicated. Only three paragraphs long. I'm starting to get used to the different past tense forms, especially when there's a preverb and 2nd conjugation. Maybe if I ever review Aronson's 5th lesson I won't feel that intimidated anymore. Fact is, every now and then I go through the several resources I've collected, to see if they are any more useable now. I think it will be much easier to use Hewitt's grammar now that I can type Georgian quickier and have online translators. I'll have to decide when to move to intermediate resources, like the Continuing Course and the Newspaper Reader. As for Tschenkéli's, next time I checked my German wasn' ok yet for reading the explanations, but it was ok for doing the translatoon exercises. I'd rather do all at once, so, meanwhile I'll be checking Armazi site, which is the most accessible reference in English. Hewitt's Structural Grammar will be read as a whole but only when I finish studies earlier and there's free time. Same about Vogt's grammar. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

It sounds like you are coming along really well with your Georgian, Expugnator. For me personally, the
reading passages at the end of Lehrbuch were really difficult and boring, so I mostly skipped them. It might be interesting for me to go back and see whether they are much easier now. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Thanks Tixhiidon, it's encouraging to hear that. I'm mostly shadowing through some topics and there's a whole lot of gaps to fill, but as I collect bits and pieces from here and there I hope to make progress. There isn't a definitive guide for Georgian, but the more I study, the more it starts to make sense. I'm even going through a peak of motivation which makes me want to just read grammar books after finishing the lesson on the textbooks.

A small text about Zotne Dadiani.

Don't quote me on this, but isn't the -თა some sort of genitive ending? So it would mean
