As promised, today I finally got a bit more time to discuss real sentences:
მე სერიოზული საფუძველი მქონდა მეფიქრა, რომ პლანეტა, საიდანაც პატარა უფლისწული მოვიდა,
ასტეროიდი ბ612 უნდა ყოფილიყო.
I have serious reasons to believe that the planet the Little Prince came from must be the asteroid B612.
Is მეფიქრა the perfect? What about უნდა ყოფილიყო, pluperfect or participle? In the French original the sentence is in the present.

მეფიქრა and ყოფილიყო are both pluperfect (the respective perfect forms would be
მიფიქრია and ყოფილა), so the English translation needs to be put in the past, i.e. "I
had serious reasons... must have been..."
The construction მქონდა მეფიქრა is interesting. I wonder if it would be OK to insert
another რომ between the two verbs.

The French original is in the present, that is a literary, narrative present, maybe it is not accepted in Georgian, but anyway, the Georgian translator seems to overexplain a lot of the French sentences. The Georgian text is somehow larger, while it is supposed to be shorter, given the nature of the language's morphology.
Regarding the sentence "შოთა რუსთაველს ისეთივე მნიშვნელობა აქვს საქართველოსათვის, როგორც შექსპირს ინგლისისათვის.", I'd like to know if იმისთანავე could replace ისეთივე.

ვეცადე, მაგრამ ვერ შევძელი. I tried but I didn't succeed/I was unable to.
An example of what I was saying about the length:
ხოლო როცა ბაობაბებს ვხატავდი, შეგნებული მქონდა, რომ ამ სურათის დახატვა აუცილებელი
იყო და ეს შეგნება მაძლევდა ძალას.
Quand j'ai dessiné les baobabs j'ai été animé par le sentiment de l'urgence.
Georgian translation: But when I was drawing (=imperfect in Georgian) the baobabs, I had (were) counscious that drawing this picture was mandatory and this understanding was giving me (=imperfect again) strength.
So, we notice that the translator changed the aspect of the sentence (the author could have used the imparfait in French if he wanted) and added a periphrasis for something that could surely be expressed more concisely in a language like Georgian. Maybe that was an option to make things easier for the children?

I'd just like to let you guys know that I've started building an Anki deck with Georgian sentences. I may add some words or verbal forms here and there, but my focus is on sentences. I am planning to look quickly at my previous books and get ideas for the most essential sentences. Will share the deck when it reaches a reasonable size.

Not only is the lesson on Aorist long, so are the exercises. Besides the several paragraphs with sentences dealing with the different present-future stem formants, there is poetry and more litterature. Luckily it all gets translated, but it's into German, so I foresee a hard time trying to understand poetry in either Georgian or German. Hope it pays off! For the first time I had to split exercises and leave the rest for the next day.

After reading the Lord's Prayer at Hewitt's book, I totally discarded using the Bible as
a learning tool, at least at this stage. The language was so archaic, it had ჩუენ instead
of ჩვენ and even the now archaic letter ჲ . So, today I had the idea to look up the Bible
again and was lucky to find out there is a modern version with the language and the
spelling we're used to studying. You can only imagine the disappointment I feel once
again with a language teacher and author who preferred to present beginners with an
archaic form of the language when there was clearly a modern one, and almost discouraged
me from using an authentic and familiar source for improving my language learning. Once
again, I'll keep on learning Georgian in spite of such events.
