It is not a question of books, but about your attitude. If the Latin words don't stream automatically into your brain, then ultrasimple translations are useful. Look at your sentence: how do you say "Yes but what books?" in Latin? It is not necessary to make perfect translations, and difficult translations are forbidden - only the activity counts, and too difficult tasks will block you. Don't do them. If you read a text, then ask yourself "how can this be said in Latin" or "What can I say about this?". And give a simple answer.

I've always thought it would be kind of cool to be a fluent writer/speaker of a dead language.

Lingua latina unus linguae optimae cogito quod et pulchra et utensilis est. Quid liber bonus est cogitas? Verbi multum non cogito nam non liber verborum habeo. Linguam latinam dicam!

As you probably have understood, I direly need a dictionary. I study from Latin for Dummies and although I have understood many parts of the grammar greatly, I totally lack vocabulary. Can you advise me a good dictionary and a book? Plus For Dummies doesn't teach the imperative mood. How can I learn it online or would anyone care to write a small lesson here?

magno cum gaudio tibi rem explicabo: Ad dicendum "sing!, play!, listen!, keep quiet!", te dicere necesse est: "canta! lude! audi! tace!". Videsne hoc valde facilem esse?

clamare - clama!
ludere (with a short e) - lude!
audire - audi!
tacere (with a long e) - tace!

Plural: clamate! ludete! audite! tacete! Remember these irregular verbs: Dic! Duc! Fac! Fer! (dicere, ducere, facere, ferre).

Intellexistine omnia?
