I'm having the impression that I didn't have an exact idea of how complex Russian is, when I started to read

That is indeed when you realize how complex Russian is. Moreover, many old authors have very distinct styles/methods of using words/grammar that is not used at all today, and leaves learners like us scratching our heads. I think when reading literature, though, the important thing to take away is the main idea. You can get modern vocab and such from newspapers and "lemonade reads" like those criminal fiction novels. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Thanks for the insight to your Moscow life. Keep it coming! It's fascinating! I must admit I am a little bit
envious. I would have loved to spend a summer learning Russian. Oh well, I have had my study periods in foreign countries when I was young, so I will just have to enjoy your stories. Very brief update.
Next week is my last week of school, for which I'm glad, since I'm sort of burnt out. I'm ready for a break from Russian, but more than that, I'm really tired of my commute to school. It's an hour and a half each way via метро и пешком. But, since it's the last week, it means that every single day , I have an exam. That's going to be no fun at all. So my weekend is going to be filled with studying. In good news, my mom stuffed a vodka bottle with black currants she picked from the forest, so I'm spending the day drinking delicious vodka tonics and trying to memorize 400+ vocab words. Правда, я поддерживаю стереотипы... На самом деле, я была в цирке и там увидела медведи на велосипедах! Какие смешные! Они выглядят человеками в костюмах медведя.
