Welcome to my TAC 2014 log! After this little introduction about my current level and
goals in my two target languages (French and Spanish), I am going to attempt to write
all future posts in those languages (this will be quite hard for Spanish at first,
haha).

Spanish

I am a beginner in Spanish. I had classes for three years in high school and then did
nothing with the language for eleven years. Though I retained some comprehension
(probably helped out a bit from French), my active abilities pretty much vanished.

Here are the resources I plan to use:

Jim%C3%A9nez/dp/2253084336">Espagnol Débutant
Course/dp/0764103334">Spanish for Reading
Destinos
Daily conversations on Verbling and Skype

I am pretty sure I will work through Assimil's Perfectionnement Espagnol after I finish
with Espagnol Débutant. I have already started using Verbling daily in an attempt to
reactivate the basic Spanish I had in high school.

Goals for Spanish:
Converse daily
Complete all of the courses listed above
Hopefully get to a solid B1 or higher in all aspects of the language by the end of 2014
Write in Spanish here consistently

French

I would rate my current level in French as high intermediate. I can read newspapers no
problem, understand movies well enough to enjoy them and sometimes even close to 100%
with easier ones, and have no problem with most radio broadcasts. I can usually
interact with relative ease with native speakers but still have difficulties if I have
to describe a complex idea or situation. I also have trouble reading long-form fiction
-- too much unknown vocabulary.

For French my goals are much hazier. Right now I plan to keep doing what I'm doing,
listening to one or two hours of radio per day, conversing several times per week on
Verbling and Skype, and writing in French here. I also intend to put a higher focus on
reading fiction, as that is certainly my weaker area in terms of comprehension.

---

Okay, best of luck to my fellow members of teams Triomphe and Lobo. :-)

Let's get to it!

As a fellow Lobo, I’m looking forward to following your progress with Spanish (and, why not, French too!)

Have a great TAC’14! ¡Buena suerte!

Voy a buscarla ahora. :-)
