I'm tempted to join doing either Hungarian or Mandarin (I know it was easy languages, but I'm going to be studying it at university in about 6 weeks, so a headstart is always good.)

I was thinking Romanian. For just six weeks could not do any harm.

Interesting experiment! Slightly mad in the nicest possible way but very tempting. I will bear it in mind for the dark winter months. Has anyone consolidated the results anywhere by which I mean "what capability do people achieve after a six week challenge ?"

I am interested in trying Russian or Mandarin Chinese. Is this still going on? This sounds like a fantastic idea!

If there's interest in restarting this project, I'd be happy to join in with either Mandarin Chinese or German. I won't be free to start till after October 5th, though.

How does this work? Find a few people who want to try your language, then go at it for 6 weeks and check up on
eachother?

It doesn't have to be the same language. The idea of having a set start (and finish) date is, I assume, to give people a bit more impetus, as well as having a core group of people who can encourage each other during the project. Post your progress on your language log. Tag the log with "6WC" so that other members can easily find it.

- Or that's what I've gathered, as a "newbie" here myself.

Perhaps you could get a native speaker to skype with the person after the 6 weeks are over, they could
rate the person's pronounciation, grammar, vocabularly etc. I just started Cantonese a few weeks back so I
don't want to start a new language so soon, it does sound like fun though so good luck guys :)
