So this will be my journal for Finnish.

I'll start with a small success: I'm now watching Nightwish DVD "End Of Innocence" and I understand a lot more than I understood when I watched it last. Not 100% but still good for me.

Update: after looking for the 10th time for the link list that I posted in FallingStar's log I've decided to copy it here:

http://www.cc.oulu.fi/~mkarjala/soh2/ - grammar (in Finnish), a lot of excercises

If I remember correctly, that particular DVD had occasionally so horrid audio quality (especially in the gig shots, with lots of background noise and shouting) that I couldn't understand 100% of it either. Your Finnish is truly impressive and it motivates me in my own studies to see you improve all the time!

Thank you, Hencke and Gidler!

Well yes the quality isn't perfect sometimes, but I'm also still getting used to puhekieli and that's why I sometimes couldn't understand anything even when the quality was quite good :/ But I guess it just demands some time and more listening.

Just finished Teach Yourself Finnish, done that program mainly to improve my pronunciation/conversation skills. Quite a good one, wish I've done that earlier. I might redo some parts during my winter holidays.

Tried to shadow the Da Vinci Code audiobook yesterday, that was not very successful. Probably the speed is too rapid for me now. Also decided to speak to myself every evening about what I did during the day, as if I was telling someone about that.

Now tried to shadow the song Koskenkorva by Klamydia with much better results (:

gdfellows has already posted the audio for the textbook and workbook of FSI Conversational Finnish on his site. You may find some of the recordings to be useful

He should be getting the .pdf of the textbook and workbook for the site within a few weeks.

Thanks a lot, I've downloaded them already. Found the workbook really nice (going to shadow it for sure), but other parts a bit boring :/ Looking forward to getting the .pdf as well.

edit for typo noticed just now
