Just registered! I'm so excited. The table looks so neat with all those zeroes...
Language: French
Challenge: full
Level: probably a C1, at least for my comprehension
Comments: So ready for this. I've got twenty second hand books, a tv series on netflix, and a list of movies. That
should keep me going for a while until i start hearing recommendations from my fellow super challengers =)
Language: Spanish
Challenge: full ( i think i can pull it off... 20 pages and 30 min a day to complete both)
Level: somewhere in the B range. probably higher than i think thanks to transparency with french.
Comments: Spanish materials will be a little harder to get but i'll manage. I have some tv series lined up and a few
books in mind.
General comments: I'm so excited. Did i mention that? I joined the last super challenge half way through and pretty
much just played around, but now that i'm starting at the beginning i think i can do this. I'll definitely need it - i'm
graduating this year and I won't have classes to keep me going with my studies. but i think that's ok, since i'm right
at the level where massive input is what i need to get closer to fluency.
Good luck everyone!!! See you all at the finish line!

Language: Russian
Challenge: Full (or more)
Level: B2/C1 (not sure)
Language: Finnish
Challenge: Full
Level: A1
Comments: I'm doing my own personal super challenge, which started on January 1st and
ends on May 31st, 2015. I'm doing Russian for that one, with a goal of 250 books (each
book is 100 pages).
I'm excited, but nervous about Finnish. I'm optimistic that I'll finish it, but we'll
see.

How lovely! Do you come across a lot of Finnish in St Petersburg?

LANGUAGE: French
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: B1-ish
COMMENTS: I read a lot better than I listen (or speak...), so I'm hoping forcing myself to watch more French stuff will help remedy that!
LANGUAGE: German
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: A2
COMMENTS: I feel really wobbly about German, so this feels even scarier than the French challenge! I may start off relatively gently with some manga, or perhaps now's the time to lay in lots of stock in graded readers...

COMMENTS: My current activities already allow me to complete the reading part of the
challenge (20 pages x 350 workdays = 7000 pages /50 = 140 books). As for the video
part, I only do 10 minutes a day, which would give me roughly 39 films. It is going to
be a challenge to watch more in French.
LANGUAGE: Norwegian
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: B1/B2
COMMENTS: My current activities already allow me to complete half the reading part of
the challenge (10 pages x 350 workdays = 3500 pages /50 = 70 books). As for the video
part, I do 10 minutes a day, which would give me roughly 78 films, thus allowing me to
apply for a half challenge.
LANGUAGE: Mandarin Chinese
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: A2/B1
COMMENTS: My current activities already allow me to complete the listening part of the
challenge (I watch 10 minutes fixed but I usually find time to watch 20 minutes more
from series and I really enjoy it). On the other hand, I haven't started reading at
all. So, I'm going for the half challenge with the hope that I will feel comfortable
about reading a bit more and just watching a bit less.

I'm quoting myself because I decided to go for half challenges in my remaining
languages. I believe I can do it: I have about one hour for each each day, plus I will
soon get past the textbook stage for all of them. So, besides a full French, a half
Norwegian and a half Chinese, there will also be:
LANGUAGE: Georgian
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: B1
COMMENTS: It will be a little troublesome to find Georgian video, but I think I can
accomplish the reading part. On the other hand, there's always Radio Tavisufleba/Radio
Free Europe with audio news + script in a dozen languages (most often the same story
covered in a wide range of languages - they even have Avar and Adyghe!).
LANGUAGE: Russian
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: A2
COMMENTS: Russian will be the easiest in terms of finding material ^^ I have an amount
of stuff I'd be reading in my language anyway, which I can read in Russian.
LANGUAGE: German
CHALLENGE: Half
CURRENT LEVEL: B1
COMMENTS: Like Georgian, I'll focus more on reading. It will be easier to find reading
materials and I have a whole bunch of books I would read in Portuguese which I can then
read in German. I still have to learn to get films and TV series.

Sadly, no. I occasionally run into a Finn now and then, but the resources are very
limited for Finnish. I bought some kids books when I was last in Helsinki, so those
should help me. I'll be going back to Finland this summer, likely Helsinki again, and
possibly Tampere or Turku, so I'll find some used book shops and get some more materials.
I've got more than enough materials in Russian, although I suppose I have it easier by
living in Russia. I go to the library every 2 weeks and take out 3-4 books to read. I
don't always finish them (such as this 2 week period, where I'm still reading the same
book. Sigh) but I've got a nice big selection to choose from. :D
