Thank you Fasulye. I can't wait to watch the whole thing. I even learned about a new

Which one is Arekkusu btw.? |

Indeed! I didn't recognise him at first, having only seen his Twitter display pic, but half way through the vid I suddenly realized it was him. Very cool to actually hear and see a regular forum poster at last!

Is it just a 6 minute clip? I thought it was going to be a full program.

The Global TV hyperpolyglot discussion still isn't broadcasted on Canadian TV! We will have to wait until 05 May 2012...

Here is the link to the show: Word Play
Don't know if it's viewable from outside Canada.
Interesting show, but as far as our discussion goes, very little was kept in the show, and there is even less
then in the preview clips.

I was able to watch the video from Austria and I loved it. Too bad it was rather short but I still enjoyed it very much.
It would be great to see a really in-depth program dealing with the subject one day.
Everybody came across as very friendly and likeable :-)

I watched it from Germany.
It was a really great and interesting show. Unfortunately, it was so short. I could have watched it for hours! It was especially interesting to see Richard and Tim. Too bad there was so little footage of the polyglot discussion. I would have liked to see that as well.
An in-depth programme would be really a great idea. The hyperpolyglot thing interests me and what Michael Erard said didn't sound bad either. Perhaps, I'm going to read Babel No More after all.

Just watched it, too. All very interesting, but it left me unsatisfied.
Why bring together 5 polyglots for a 3-hour panel discussion if you aren't going to
show the results?
Even worse the treatment of the Richard & Tim footage imho: I didn't get anything out
of it other than "we brought these two hyperpolyglots together in NY" - awesome idea,
but what is the result?? Where is all that footage you must have collected?
There was a lot of footage of people saying sentences in foreign languages throughout
the show of course, but I was hoping for more substance, to learn more e. g.about how
these amazing learners feel about languages and how they go about learning them.
Two points that the program promoted that annoyed me:
1. that idea of hyperpolyglots being male, left-handed, with autoimmune disorders etc.
and suggesting that there was a sample base of 400 to that finding when there were only
17, not scientific at all and discredited also by their own sample
2. the suggestions that if you spend 6-8 hours studying languages every day that you're
still not going to be a polyglot very soon, that you additionally need talent or a
different brain.
