This is a common misconception, knowing a book by hearth won't make you a programmer. Besides, I don't see how it's going to facilitate language learning either. It's about building reflexes as much as it is about memorizing stuff.

Could I remind everyone to use write in English only, or to include a translation in English if you need to use another language? Please also refrain from name-calling and insults, as they add nothing to the discussion.

I was kidding and exaggerating. :-)

The trick here isn't learning a book by heart. We have three steps:

1-Understand: you can use something like elaborative interrogation.

2-Memorize: you use special memorization techniques.

3-Fix: you get the reflex level.

You can avoid a lot of time checking your books.

Regarding language learning, you can use the same approach. Is not that different than learning computer languages or programming.

I am very sorry. I was pushing because some people don't stick to the arguments and insist on useless personal attacks.

Thank you very much. You have just exposed a extremely good language technique.

If time and intensity are the most important variables, we can use this technique:

Look for some addictive behavior you have, attach your language learning to it and you will spend a lot of INTENSITY and TIME.

For example: if arguing on the Internet is your addictive behavior, you can engage in forum discussions using YOUR TARGET language and avoid your native language.

This is powerful behaviorism
