:o You have The Master and Margarita! I have only just started on Russian, but I want that to be the first book I read in Russian without a translation at hand. Amazing piece of work.

This is a great idea - thanks to all those putting the work in! If and when I make any parallel texts of my own I will let you know.

.rtf seems like a good standard but I just thought I'd mention that for those of you who have ebook readers, this link has a huge list of free programs to convert files to epub format.

I don't have an ebook reader so I can't test it, but it sounds as if Calibre is the best at the moment.

Edit: Ah, spam filter. The links are:
[www dot]lexcycle[dotcom]/faq/how_to_create_epub
[www dot]calibre-ebook[dotcom]

If you trust me enough to visit them ;)

Great resource you're putting together Marco. I'll check back often to see what has been added and will also link to my site next time I log in :)

Thanks :) I think you'll be interested in 3 English-Japanese books I uploaded just now. Many thanks to all of you who participate!

PS. Does anyone know where I can find corresponding audiobooks in Japanese? I don't know one character of it.

OlafP, now you can download 3 Chekhov's masterpieces: Uncle Vanya, The Three Sisters and The Cherry Orchard. Two of them have available audiobooks and they are ideal for begginers (only dialogues) - I myself began to learn Russian with these.

This is great, thank you very much! If there is a demand for English - Norwegian books I
would be happy to contribute.

There is always a demand - think, for instance, of how many Norwegians would find such books useful for learning English (each X-English book can be made English-X in two clicks.)

I'm glad you like the idea :)

the two books in pdf were not created by me.

if you uploaded alice in wonderland don't link to the librivox audio, it does not match. It's similar, but not identical to the translation I used. Beginner's mistake. I mentioned that when I first shared it and forgot to tell you.

so I suppose my contribution is rather meager :)
