What I learnt today: How to demystify "verbal aspects", thanks to my girlfriend and the excellent video on this subject by Splog...

That is indeed an excellent video. Thanks to you for linking to it and thanks to Splog for making it and explaining it so well. I thought I understood the concept of aspect in Slavic languages in general already, and I mostly did but now it just makes all the more sense. :)

Good luck mate and I wish you the best. But that is insane. I know you'd be able to do it

@ellasevia, zekecoma
Thanks guys!

What with focusing on clearing my in-tray this week, including having to fit in a quick business trip to the UK at short notice, my Russian hasn't exactly started "rushing" anywhere just yet. However there's good news on the horizon in all this...by working this extra bit over the last few days, I've managed to free up many more hours for language study, which will hopefully be reflected in the next few posts. I'm really psyched about this and look forward to upping my game starting tomorrow! :D

"Rushing Russian", Day 4
(Ни пуха, ни пера!)

Study-and-click: 3 hours (10 total)
Other active study: 1 hour (5 total)
Background music: 1.5 hours (5 total)

New passive words: 137 (550 total)
Today's reading score: 82% (+2%, История первая, Глава 4, 100 words)

What I learnt today: The DLI (Defense Language Institute) recommends 10 minute mini-breaks in between 40-50 minute study sessions, and a whole hour off for lunch. Sound like a good idea to me, and I've got a whole day free tomorrow to try it out. :)

Study-and-click: 5 hours (15 total)
Other active study: 3 hours (8 total)

What I learnt today: Tracking progress is a key factor in successful motivation. It's great to be able to see positive results at the end of the day, looking forward to goals rising larger step by step on the horizon, and looking back at my footprints in the sand.

What I learnt today: Have you ever noticed how tasty and tender food can be when you prepare it over a whole day in a slow cooker. This is what I was thinking whilst enjoying some delicious stew out on the balcony this evening, and then I laughed...yes, that's exactly how it is with languages too. :)

I've been working full-on all day to meet a deadline, and now it's time to go to bed. So sadly no Russian for me today; just a quick "спокойной ночи" (good night) to one and all. [edit]
