In 2011 I want to keep studying French and German, and I hope to get to B2 level by the

For 2011 I want to acheive basic fluency in Spanish and to start German. I realize that you can't just decide how many hours will equal a certain level of fluency, but for the purpose of measureable goals I'm shooting for 500 hours of active learning of Spanish before starting German, though I may begin working on vocabulary with Anki a little earlier.

By mid-2011, I want to
-feel totally comfortable holding a conversation in Turkish, unless it's highly technical -be able to read Harry Potter-level books so easily that I read them for fun rather than study -be able to understand most of more difficult books (like Lord of the Rings or novels by Orhan Pamuk) without a dictionary, 100% with (which is my current status on the books in the previous category) -read Turkish blogs with ease -understand at least 90% of most films in Turkish By the end of 2011... well, I hesitate to set goals. Never having stuck with an independent-study language this long before, I don't really know how realistic my mid- year goals are, so I think I'll reevaluate mid-year- to assess, among other things, whether I feel confident enough with Turkish that I'll want to take on another language as well. If I do, it will probably be Hebrew or Hindi. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

For this new year I just want to keep learning Swedish and German in order to reach a level which enable me to listen and understand broadcast and read and practise as munch as possible in English to master it as well as my native language French.

My 21st birthday will be in October 2011 and by that time I hope to have achieved basic passive fluency in French.
As for other languages, I plan to start on Arabic in the next couple of weeks but I´m in no hurry. Doing one or two Pimsleur lessons a week and finding a way to learn and practise the alphabet will be enough for now. By the end of 2011, I also want to have started doing some work on German. 1. Complete study of New French with Ease.
2. Begin and finish study of Assimil's Using French. 3. Practice French listening skill with watching shows and movies in French. 4. If I get to where I feel comfortable with my ability to read French, listen to and understand French, put it into maintenance level of exposure and begin study of Finnish. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

In 2011 I'm going to finally achieve near-native fluency in Hebrew and get to basic fluency in Russian.

My goals:
1. Start learning seriously Japanese, using Pimsleur and Assimil and other materials. 2. Continue progressing in Arabic and to understand 100 % what is covered in Teach Yourself Arabic and understanding at least 50 % of slow speach and to be able fluently express about everyday life. 3. Re-start my German, French and Swedish to a very serious level. 4. Learn Dutch, Danish and Finnish. As with Arabic - express fluently about everyday life. 1 person has voted this message useful |
