Despite the Chinese government encouraging greater consumption of cars, with measures such as a very lax driving test, outside the main cities, such as Beijing, bikes remain the dominant form of transportation. They have their own very wide road lanes and Bike parking spaces. I truly hope that this form of transportation remains popular in China not just for the environment but also for the health of the people. Reports in papers now suggest that China for the first time will see a generation of obese children.
