My experience as an English teacher in China

These students are about 21, though they look about 16. I general teaching in China is a comfortable experience. Students are very kind to their teachers. However, Chinese students are more pack orientated than western students. They will often stick together as a unit, prefering their knowledge to be 'spoon fed', and so do not always take to interactive western language teaching methods.

This can be a problem when teaching oral English where mistakes are an important part to achieving fluency in the long run. Often, students in the west don't mind losing face and getting an answer wrong but many Chinese find it hard to speak unless they think their grammer is 100% correct. From this picture you can also see that as in the West mobile phones can be a problem in class.
