I'm sure some people will disagree with me but I really don't think
that the Iberian accent on the Assimil recordings would present a huge problem.

I like the way the Iberian accent on Assimil sounds, and it feels compatible with the
Spanish I hear from northern South America, Central America, and most of Mexico. My
theory (and it's only a theory) is that these places have a large indigenous population
for whom Spanish is a second language, and so it's a bit cleaner and slower.

Just an update, I heard back from Natalie Froehly at Assimil, and she said the updated
Spanish with Ease (English base) will be out in September 2013. That was the first I'd
heard of a specific month.

Let's hope they fix the thing.

With regard to Iberian accent vs "Latin American" accent, you might actually put yourself
at an advantage with the Iberian accent, instead of trying to sound local. A friend of
mine went to America, and his Spanish is good enough that he was regularly thought to be
a native of Spain even though he is English. Had he learnt with an accent from the
Americas, they would have spotted him by his accent.

I would like a Swedish Assimil course in English, that would be amazing. Anyways, I will
probably use their French version after I learn French, if they don't make one until
then.

For anyone in the states, Schoenhofs (dot com) is a great place to get Assimil courses. The books run about $20 and the complete courses with audio are about $50 USD. It might even be cheaper to buy there and have them ship it elsewhere.

Be warned, though. If they are out of stock, it can take 6-8 weeks to show up, and they are awful about answering questions.

Any update on this topic?

I'm waiting for the new "tchèque sans peine". I'm wondering if it'd be a brand new course or just a rehash
of the 1994 course.

I see that Assimil has posted a message to their Facebook page saying that the 2013
catalogue is available on request at contact@assimil.com

"Le catalogue Assimil 2013 est disponible sur simple demande à contact@assimil.com"

Nice. If anyone happens to pick that up, feel free to post the list for us.
