Message 90 in this thread says that the new English based Spanish course
should be released this month. I don't see it on the website. Anyone know where it is
available? |

That was me that posted that originally. I even went and double checked my email, and
that is what was said. I just emailed a follow-up asking about Spanish along with some
other courses that are to be released soon-ish. Once I get a reply, I will post it in
here.
I hope the delay is just due to thorough revisions of the translation into English. Poor
translations generally seem to be the biggest/only issue with Assimil courses, so that
would be a delay that is worthwhile, in my opinion :)

The one odd difference I noticed is Assimil France has no listing of American or
Business English for Italian speakers. Assimil Italy has those listed on the Italian
website for a very long time.

Yeah, there are a few Italian courses not listed there, like Swedish, Hebrew and Latin, to name a few. If you want an Italian-based Assimil course, you have to check assimil.it.

Well this does not seem promising. I wrote and asked for updates on the English base
German and Spanish due out this year and the Hebrew, Yiddish, and Arabic. The reply:
Quote:
This is to confirm you that our methods of Arabic, Hebrew & Yiddish will be
published at the begining of 2014.
Our Spanish course was published in 1987 and our German course was published in 2011.
We remain at your disposal for any further information.
Best regards.

So......not really sure what this means for the release of an updated German and
Spanish. If someone else wants to write and ask specifically about those two, that
would be great. The replies to my queries seem to just be going in a circle now. Kind
of a bummer for me, as I was very interested in the German that I was told would be out
next month.

This does not make sense. I wrote to them in 2011 and was told they were "preparing" the new version of Spanish. I wrote to them again in 2012 and was assured they were still working on it and indeed "plan to publish" it. Below are the emails I received:
-------
Hello,
Thank you very much for your message and your interest in our publications.
This is to confirm you that we are preparing a new version of our course "Spanish with ease" but we have no date of publication at the present time.
For sure, it won't be in 2011.
Best regards.

Indeed. I still have the email from earlier this year when she said the Spanish With Ease
should be released in September of 2013, and the German in November of 2013. Maybe I just
poorly word my emails and they get confused? I have no idea.....it seems odd for a
courses' released to be imminent and then.....not get referenced ever again, haha.

2014.
Our method "German with ease" will be released in April 2014.

It is funny they subject a language not used in Europe to European norms.

I don't think that's a problem at all. The company is European, and the EFL is a good standard, why not use it?
