Sprachprofi, I know that this is not a log, but it's a gathering of people who would like to do the Dutch challenge. People can meet here and create a log, if they like. As Dutch is my favourite language, I wish the partipants of this challenge good luck!

Fasulye made a valid point - we can make a log here and 'document' our progress in the language, or we can meet up on Skype to practise the language.
Personally, thank god I have a Dutch colleague in the office, whom I can ask any questions related to Dutch. Anyway, I will be using the Langenscheidts programme to learn Dutch, and hopefully, I can progress on to the Assimil Using Dutch programme available in French language. But first, Langenscheidts programme...

I found a Dutch novel (actually English novel translated into Dutch) at a library book sale this fall, so I'm interested. I've been using Pimsleur basic and after 8 lessons, I could only say "I would like something to eat." This is not the program for me. Assimil is on its way, but it's an older version, so I expect the tapes to be pretty worn. Still, if I can get sound sound-spelling correspondence somewhat straight, I'll make more progress in a book.

In that case I think I'll join then. I've been wanting to start back up with my Dutch again lately, and this would give me the perfect chance (and excuse!) to do so and to stay motivated.
Wonderbare idee!

A one month Dutch super-challenge - what a wonderful idea! I think this would be a really great way to start 2011 :-D
Dutch (and Afrikaans) have long been on my target-radar, so I'm really seriously thinking about having a go at this!
As an English native speaker who has a pretty good level in German, I may be at a kind of unfair advantage over learners with no Germanic background, but hey...
BTW I don't suppose we could include Afrikaans in the challenge, could we? (It is more or less a dialect of Dutch.)

Since you were asking for a native speaker to make corrections, I hope you don't mind if I get right at it; wonderbare is not a Dutch word. :) I would say "Geweldig idee!" instead.
EDIT: Looked it up and it apparently is a word but I've never heard or read it anywhere before.

Awesome! Quite a few people expressed interest already. I didn't expect that much
interest considering that it's not a major European language - but it will definitely
be fun!

Well, if I commit 100% to this, I'd kind of prefer South African Dutch (Afrikaans) rather than European Dutch. But we'll see...
