Thank you, Cristina! I start an internship with a refugee resettlement organization tomorrow. I'll be working in their immigration services department. I'm thinking I'll be working mostly with Somalis so I have picked up the Colloquial Somali course. Boy, that language is not easy! I am hoping I can pick up a little Somali by the time my internship is over (4 months). I was told I may have an interpreter sometimes, but often I'll just have to try my best to communicate. Fun stuff. :)
My husband and I are working on a website for people learning Persian. That's taken up a lot of my time but it's been very enjoyable! I've been speaking Persian with him a lot but I haven't had my nose to the grindstone like I should. Still, I don't feel bad about my 6WC performance.

Hello everyone! I've been translating a lot of songs for the new website and I thought I'd shared a simple one. This is "Age Dastamo Begiri" by Arian Band. The title means "If You Hold My Hands" in English. You can listen to the song here.
mioone baloore baroon
inside the crystal raindrops
akse khorside talaee
the picture of the golden sun
matame derakht o bargash
the sorrow of the tree and its leaves
vase lahzeye jodai
for the moment of separation
zire paye rahgozarha
under the feet of the pedestrians
sedaye naleye bargha
the sound of the leaves' cries
pak mishe az kooche hamoon
our alleys become empty
jaye paye ghasedakha
there's no trace of the dandelions
tu shaba michinand abrha
in the nights, the clouds pick
hameye setareharo
all of the stars
hame az baghche migirand*
everyone asks the little garden
soraghe aghaghia ro
about the acacia
age dastamo begiri
if you hold my hands
ghame paizo nadaram
I don't have the sadness of autumn
midoonam keh tu negahet
I know that in your glance
hamishe baharo daram
I will always have the spring
age dastamo begiri
if you hold my hands
ghame paizo nadaram
I don't have the sadness of autumn
midoonam keh tu negahet
I know that in your glance
hamishe baharo daram
I will always have the spring
*Soragh and migirand go together here to mean "ask"

Your internship sounds like a fascinating opportunity. I hope that you will post a url to your website when you and
your husband finish building it. :)

^ Thank you! I will definitely share the website as it grows. Right now I've been so busy training at my internship and my other new job.
Someone rear ended me this week and I have had bad headaches and a lot of neck and throat pain. I hope this ends soon so I can get back to studying and exercising.

How are you doing? Head aches, and neck and throat pain doesn't sound too good. Hope you are getting better!!

Hi Cristina! First of all, I have to say your avatar picture is so beautiful! :)
I'm doing fine here. I've been very busy due to a new job. Now I'm working seven days a week at a couple very exhausting jobs. I have not found much time to study. I'm unhappy but earning money so I guess that's what matters most right now. I hope soon I can find a job that I like better so I don't feel so exhausted and stressed all the time.
On a positive note, my internship working with refugees is fantastic. I have fallen in love with a lot of languages. This week I am especially liking Somali and Tigrinya. The alphabet Tigrinya uses looks insane(ly awesome)!
Hope everyone on HTLAL is doing well!

Hi Élan,
I'm sorry to hear you're unhappy at your new job and I hope you find one that you do like
very soon. You volunteer work sounds exciting, though, and I agree that the Ge'ez script
looks great. Some of its letters remind me of the Greek alphabet while others look a
little bit like Chinese characters.

Thank you! I am often told that I am very photogenic - which is just another way of saying that I do not look half as good in real life as in pictures, and this is a particularly good one.
Iiishh - 7 days a week in two jobs does not sound good at all - I do not think I would have liked working in the US. We Europeans like our weekends and holidays too much. Grantedly, I have had periods in my life with all work and no play too, but periods like that had better not be too long.
The refugee center job sounds really intereresting though. Keep us posted!
