Personally I think the only person they are harming is themselves. If they are misunderstanding of the rules (subtitles, etc) someone should explain it to them.
One thing about this challenge is that it is also a test of personal integrity, you either have it or you don't. So unless what they are posting is against the laws of physics and time, aka 28 hours a day, perhaps we should believe them and ask for advice.
:)

Personally, I don't really *care* - I really only check everyone else's stuff to look for ideas of what to read/watch anyway.
Numbers like that just look ridiculous to me. They defeat the purpose of the Challenge, and I can see how they would de-motivate some people.
I wonder if Surrealix could just put a "cap" of 300 or 400 and nothing else would count, even if you continued to log stuff. Even 400 would give the hard-core Super Challengers enough room. :)

Nor do I, but obviously it's bothering some people. Perhaps a direct email might be
appropriate?

Hey guys and gals!!!
I noticed while putting in some links to resources for someone in a German thread that the Super Challenge Recommendations for German are pretty sparse, and some of the others as well. I thought I would bump this thread to try and get everyone to chip in more recommendations for reading and watching on the Wiki
So if you got some time, and want to create a better resource for a language you're studying (or native) then please take the time to do it.
:)

I thought I'd give a quick year-end summary of my first 8 months of the Super Challenge:
French (full challenge)
50.2 books, 120.7 films. I'm well on the way to get the full challenge in French, with a double for films. My reading comprehension is improving steadily, and as for watching, I hope to give up English subtitles by the end of the challenge.
I can't pick a point, like some people, at which my reading suddenly improved. But after grinding through about 200 pages of Les orpailleurs by Thierry Jonquet, I read Le Petit Nicolas, c'est Noël !, and it was so easy and enjoyable to read!
Hindi (1/2 challenge)
3.3 books, 28 films. I'll easily get the half challenge for films, but I'm not sure I'll get there for books. Nevertheless, the Super Challenge has pushed me to dig out a bunch of old children's books and read 18 of them (many of them twice). So by the original rule that every book counts, I would probably finish the half challenge, if not a whole challenge.
Ancient Greek (1/2 challenge)
1.2 books, 1.6 films. Pathetic, really. If I didn't sign up for the half challenge, I would probably not have read even this much, so I'm really glad I signed up and that we were allowed to include multiple languages. There's not really a chance in hades of me finishing this half challenge, but I will definitely do better in the next 12 months. I hope to get to at least 10 books/ 10 films in Ancient Greek by the end of the challenge. By the way, "films" in Ancient Greek is the audio Greek New Testament. However, I've heard about the Cambridge Greek play, and if they put one on this year, I'll try to attend, as well as reading the play script in advance.
More details about what I did this year can be read on my log (post 109) and of course my page on the Super Challenge website.

Has anyone logged any graphic novels? I got the first few volumes of The Walking Dead in Spanish - and I
can't wait to read them! I'm just not sure if/how I should log them, or if I should just consider them something
separate from the Super Challenge. Thoughts?

My 2014 Spanish Super Challenge recap:
reading: 50.9 book units
- last four Percy Jackson books
- first two Hunger Games books
- third Harry Potter book
- plus 200+ pages of articles that I logged at the very beginning, before I realized that that wasn't the intent of
the challenge (can old tweets be "undone" so that I can delete these?)
watching: 26 film units
Mostly TV shows:
- Los Simpsons
- dubbed Buffy season 3
- Frágiles
- Aquí no hay quien viva
- El internado
I habe to pick up the pace with watching if I'm going to hit 100 by the end of the year!

It's pretty simple. Count the words on a couple of representative pages and use them to
figure out the number of pages it would be in an ordinary book. I use 300 words per page as
my guide. Or you can simply count 5 pages as 1, as with children's books.
