In addition to English and French, I'd say these:
Russian
Spanish
Arabic
Hindi
Korean
EDIT: I'm not actually planning on learning all five. They're just some of these languages spoken in countries that I find intriguing or otherwise just important. I've dabbled in all of these languages and many more. But if there were some possibility to upload languages into one's brains, then these would most likely be the ones I'd want to be uploaded first. (but despite the difficulty of language learning, I hope there will never be such a possiblity - would be a scary Orwellian world)

Okay, this is my first post, and I think a good place to start.
My native language is English and I spend time improving my skills in this language.
1. Latin--feeds many other languages
2. Spanish--becoming more and more prevalent, my children and grandchildren are learning in school.
3. Italian--my ancestry
4. German--loved it in high school
5. You are so right! This last one is a toughie. I think I would go for French, since I do have ancestry who came from France and I have 1 or 2 of my 20 grandchildren learning it. Also, my husband likes to quote little phrases--and it's the language of love!!!
BUT: ASL is good, so is the language of medicine which I am learning because of work. Polish would be a good one, I don't think I'm up to Mandarin which my son-in-law speaks fluently (actually he speaks several languages). But I'll stick with the above 5.
