Why don't you tell your parents about Assimil (if you don't want them to know), that you
went to a book store and asked them and they told you about Assimil and give it to him
^^.

I'm planning on it. Maybe just google something that leads me to a review of
Assimil and say "Oh, this looks cool" then find a few more positive reviews.
I don't want to just walk up to them and say "Hey, try Assimil, it's amazing" because
that'd be...weird.

johntm93, I certainly do not want to appear nosy but you piqued my curiosity. Might I ask why you do not want them to know you are studying languages?

I was afraid someone would asked that :\
I don't mind answering.
I don't really care if they know, but I am afraid they'd go around saying that I speak
other languages when I don't. I will tell them, but I don't want to just say it
randomly, I'd wait for a good moment to tell them.
I don't want it to be like this:
"What do you want for dinner tonight?"
"I like learning languages."
I do plan on telling them, it's not like I'm going to keep it a secret. Eh, maybe
they'll find language stuff on my computer or iPod.

I can relate to that. If I learn three words of something I 'speak it' according to my mother. It gets embarrassing. We had an argument about my level of Spanish one day. I said I wasn't fluent, she insisted I am. She doesn't speak a word of Spanish, and has never heard me speak the language...
Ah mothers!
