I hope this doesn't count as double posting, but I recently uploaded an audio clip of me making an unprepared speech on Youtube. I must confess, I DID plan what topics I was going to talk about, in order to avoid awkward silences that came when I chose not to.

I've already posted a link to this video on my log, and got some feedback from Fasulye and Pyx. But I would really appreciate it if other German speakers could evaluate my pronunciation and grammar. After all, more critics don't hurt a language learner. :)

I will also upload new videos periodically, so please keep an eye out for my language learning log. :)

This is the video.

Thank you in advance.

Disclaimer: I'm not a native speaker of German.

Prepared or not, you seem to have a knack for accent. To me, you sound way more German than 99% of the Germans I've met manage to sound Swedish.

Well done.

Thank you for the compliment.. But I still don't sound native enough... and I still haven't mastered the use of "doch" and "wohl"..

PS - I just uploaded a second video which can be found on my log.. I'll just put the URL for the lazy few. :)

In the words of Larry David: 'pretty good'.

Maybe one thing is that you sometimes say 'sch' instead of 's' i.e. ischt not ist und
Fauscht not Faust.

I agree with Krog (who has outstanding taste in TV shows) “pretty pretty good.” Your German is very clear and understandable. Kudos.

Really, the only major issue, as Krog mentioned, you are mixing your “s” and “sch” sounds e.g., you pronounced: erschte, ischt, fascht, am liebschten etc. instead of erste, ist, fast, am liebsten and ein bichen and Französich instead of ein bisschen and Französisch, etc..

Additionally, you should try doing a video reading a poem, since you like poetry.

Thanks a lot for the comments, and I WILL make sure I improve on that S vs. SCH problem.

Hi Jiwon,

in your two videos you said: "Nun ist es 2 Uhr vormittags" respectively " Nun ist es 3 Uhr vormittags..." and I have to go to bed.

In Germany we call the time from 22 p.m. to 6 a.m " nachts".

"Vormittags" is the time from 10 a.m to 12 a.m.

"Morgens" is the time from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. .

"Nachmittags" here is the time from 2 p.m. to about 5 -6 p.m. and

"abends" is the time from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

I hope my comment is useful for you.

Have a good week!

Johannes
