POR: Escrevei sobre as minhas viagens escandinavas
aqui.

CHI:我不类!

There will be more Greek this week (class) but apart from that the focus is mostly on
Chinese and for reading materials Swedish.

The reason I am focusing on Chinese is because I hope to go to China in the fall and
spend a month doing intensive Chinese courses, then teach English at a school in China.
I think all together I will spend almost 6 months in China if this project comes true,
but it is my plan. We will see if it becomes reality, but I think it will be, and for
that, I need to finally tackle Mandarin.

That's not to say you will not see any of the other languages here - I feel a bit more
comfortable writing even in the languages I am bad at, such as Greek, Portuguese and
Hebrew. And at some point I will study all of these languages in immersion and travel
settings, just like I should - just do not expect me to have full retention of my
skills in every language, and expect there to be some plateauing. My best languages are
the ones I use the most often, and those languages are the obvious suspects. I plan to
make French an important part of my life so it is number three, and there is very
little chance Russian or Swedish will disappear from my life at this point in time.
Romanian and German are less well represented but I can still speak German often if I
want to.

Hey Tarvos -- Exciting that you're focusing on Mandarin now! I hope your plans of teaching
in China work out, that would really be something. :)

It's a necessity now. Travel is the big thing, as is work. My languages augment that. Not
vice versa usually. (Well sometimes).

Is the travel a personal goal, or for something else? What draws you to China? (Sorry if
you've answered this earlier in your log and I missed it.)

The travel is mostly to get out of here (i.e. the Netherlands). The fact I am going to
China comes about because this is a cheap way to get an internship teaching English
without having to write 5000000 applications. And because Asia has demand for English
teachers. That's mostly the reason. Chinese is a side effect of this being the easiest
way for me to see something new right now while actually earning some money to keep up
a living and not spending tonnes. I need to move out and this will dump me on my own
for 5,5 months in China while I figure out what to do with my life after it.

I haven't posted much in the log about it and even if I had my guess is you would need
a language besides English to read it.

I am particularly drawn to China because I literally know jack shit about China. So in
that case I need to find out. Chinese is a big language too, so it might come in handy
at some point to have a smattering of Chinese.

I just want an excuse to travel and see the world, and China is basically the first
place I can easily get to.

I have a bunch of places I want to go to in the near future and in the long term:
Israel, Colombia, Mongolia and Korea are my targets after China, but I also really need
to visit a Francophone country and do some French immersion and get my high-level
French diploma. Then I also need to visit Samos at some point. Portugal would also be
interesting.

Long-term targets are Lebanon and Cape Verde.

POR:

Agora estou a aprender chinês continuamente. Cada dia - chinês, cada dia - pronunciação
do chinês.
Sinto-me como o português devem melhor no tempo passado.
conhece algum, escreve-me.

SV:

FR:
