Claro. Nasci na austrália, mas os meus pais são portugueses. Vivi em portugal por 8 anos.

This sentence translates into: "Sure. I was born in Australia but my parents are from Portugal, where I lived for 8 years.

And I am guessing the first one says "You speak Portuguese like a native?" [lit. "[It] is Portuguese that you speak as a native?"]. I don't speak Portuguese, but I think I'm correct...It took me a minute or two to figure them out using the Spanish and some French I know.

That's right. It's funny you make use of Spanish and French to figure out the meaning, because I generally make use of Portuguese to make sense of other neo-latin languages.
I just wish I could speak many more languages, that everyone on this forum could,so we could post in whatever language we felt like. That would truly be an enlightening experience.

I just got off the phone with Ziad... WOW! He is totally awesome. He is very nice, precise, and he has a great sense of humor. His English was perfect. I was so nervous (I could barely talk), but it turned out well.

Are you calling him on Skype or to his homephone? I talked to him briefly on his homephone, but I cannot seem to reach him by Skype.

He teaches at home, basically he stays in hs living room and students walk in and out all day and a few students he works with through Skype. All in all don't take it the wrong way his schedule is very tight and every student is essentially his lifeline . We are going over and overe the biography section to get it right and Im looking at what videoconference tech we can use. Their is always one student walking in while Im walking out and so on.
