Well I have no way of knowing who I will be in 35 years time. Even if I look back to me 5 years ago my hopes, dreams, fears, strengths and weaknesses have changed considerably. Still, this kind of thing is fun to think about.

Ideally I would like C2 in Japanese and French, C1 in German and Russian and some kind of ability in Welsh.

A more realistic, yet still challenging, outcome is C1 in Japanese and French (along with a JLPT N1 and a DALF certificate) and B1/B2 in German and Russian. And some ability in Welsh if I'm still living here at 64!

I can then spend a happy retirement maintaining them all until senility consigns them to oblivion.

C1 (minus writing skills) - Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, Thai
B2 (minus writing skills) - Russian, French, Portuguese, Korean, German, Italian, Vietnamese

Bye-bye Swahili
Will probably never attempt Arabic, Hindu, Cantonese, Tagalog as originally planned.

As high a level as possible in English, Mandarin, Persian, Japanese, Hindi, Russian, Korean, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Malay, Turkish, and French. In that order of priority.

Dabble in Latvian, Estonian, Finnish, Nahuatl, Kannada, Hawaiian, Moroccan Arabic, Greek, Norwegian, Czech, Serbo-Croatian, Akkadian, Italian, Hausa, and heavens knows what else.

Yup, that should keep me busy.

I hope to have C2 level in Dutch and German, at least C1 in Japanese and Mandarin, at least B2 in French, Arabic, Slovene and Swahili, and to have studied a reasonable about of Welsh, (Scots) Gaelic, Thai, Korean, Yiddish, Vietnamese and Swedish. By the time I get there, some of the languages may very well have changed, but I think the first seven are fairly well certain, and I've already done at least some of the others.

Since I'm already 66 my goal is to become fluent in Spanish and I'm not putting any time limits on it.

If I can't even set realistic goals for one year, how am I supposed to set them for 47 years from now?

I guess you'll beat my imaginary score before 30 :) (of course if the tendency won't be stunted)

That is still far away (a bit more than 40 years). So. Should I be realistic or just dream? A bit of both.

C1/C2 English, French, Spanish, German, Esperanto
B2 Swedish, Russian, Polish, Italian, Japanese or Mandarin
B1 Welsh, perhaps something that catches my attention on the way (Greek? Standard Arabic? Hebrew? Swahili? some smaller language? an elvish one? Ancient Egyptian?)

I believe at least half of it is achievable.
