Hmm that's 37 years in the future for me. Let's have a think. In 8 years, I've learnt a
lot of Spanish but some of it badly, a bit of Korean but most of it well and I just
started German the other week. At my current progress, I'm (optimistically) at 1
language plus 2/5 another language plus a beginner in a new language. So let's call
that a 'unit'. I have approximately 4 and a half units before I'm 64. That's about 6-7
languages maybe which (in order) would be Korean, German, French, Latin, Greek,
Russian, Arabic.
Cool. Hopefully by the time I'm 64, I'll be finishing Arabic or starting Egyptian
hieroglyphics and going through other languages that I have the Assimil courses for but
not the time to do (like Dutch, Japanese and Swedish).
(I loved Ari's post about Dolphin and Xorblaxian. Solfrid, I thought you were mid-30's
at the very, very latest, so kudos. When I'm 64 I hope I have your youth)

I also hope I will have my current youth when I am 64 :-). That is still 15 years from now, but I still
appreciate the " mid 30 ies" which would be 15 years in the other direction.

way off.

In my usual pessimistic way, I simply hope to be alive in 27 years' time. Hopefully, I will have learned at great deal in that time (not necessarily all language-related).
I anticipate the following:
(a) between years 0 (i.e. now) and 10, I won't have achieved that much due to family circumstances,
(b) between years 10 and 18, life will be a bit easier and I might get some more done,
(c) between years 18 and 27, most of my learning will probably take place since I'll finally be rid of that great millstone round my neck (i.e. my job).
Nevertheless, perhaps everything I've written is absolute balderdash and the widely-held belief about the world ending next year will be true after all. Or perhaps I'll win the lottery and can retire earlier. Or I might just collapse after writing this...don't you just love the future?

Knowing myself, I'm very sure I'll be able to speak at least one language that I right now totally don't expect myself to ever learn to fluency...
Other than that, hard to tell as I'll be more than 3x my current age then. I don't see why I can't be a polyglot by then but the specific number of languages is hard to predict :D

Well since October 2057 is pretty far away, I will set more modest goals. I am 18 now, and I would like to be completely absolutely fluent in Spanish by the age of 20, along with basic fluency or better in German. By 25, I want to be almost native like in Spanish and German. My goal would be perfectly fluent in 5 by 50 (counting English), then probably stop. I prefer depth over breadth.
