That word can also mean "theme of the member(s) of the crisis", should you ever need such
a word. ;)

LATIN

necāre = to kill
interficere = to kill
caedere = to kill
occīdere = to kill
truncāre = to kill

And this list is not exhaustive. Yeah, the ancient Romans knew how to kill.

German

töten - to kill (I think it's a non-specific word, I may be wrong)

(bei einem Autounfall) ums Leben kommen- to be killed in a car accident.

to be killed in action - im Kampf fallen

die Zeit totschlagen - to kill time

In Danish we have "slå ihjel", literally "beat into-somethingcalled'hjel' ". I have checked my etymological dictionary and found out that the "hjel"-part is an old reference to the Norse (and probably common Germanic) word for hell. But in the old days 'hel' was not a place for sinners, but rather the place where everyone who didn't die gloriously in battle went, so in general murder victims also went there. It was only when the christians brought the weird idea about a paradis for pious and meek wimps alike that hel ("helvede" in Danish) became the sole preserve of the wicked ones.
