I'm tentatively in. I'm studying three other lanugages right now, but I could definitely spend an additional 30 minutes per day on a new one for six weeks. The hard part is choosing one: Georgian, Amharic, Aramaic, or Norwegian...or maybe a French-based Assimil course?

Your offer of a Latin course sounds very tempting, Sprachprofi... I've
looked over the material a bit before and it looked really good. Would you be giving
these lessons for free or would there be a small cost? |

The materials at http://drop.io/latin_101_1, _2, _3 and so on? Those are what
I now use with students, as it's only 25 lessons until you're ready to read Caesar etc.
in the original. There's also a Latin course I created while still at high school, at
http://www.learnlangs.com/latin, but there are more lessons and they don't
lead as far...
Anyway, if you work through the lessons yourself and then we meet up to discuss the
solutions, I'm ready to do that for free.

eh, sorry to critize you, but Gaius Julius Caesar was not a king!

Theory and practice.
"rex" had more broad use than the English word "king" btw.

I'm totally in. Swahili, likely with the FSI material. I will not be able to start until sometime next week.
Should we post results here, or start independent 6WC logs?
Anyone else interested in learning Swahili? The FSI material looks interesting and is chopped (or even finely minced) into 150 very short manageable units (looks like audio clips of only a couple of minutes on a random sampling).
FSI Swahili

I'll be doing a separate log for mine... I'm currently torn between Hebrew and Latin. Hungarian might happen too, even though I told myself I shouldn't...

I'm already learning Swahili (and tomorrow I'm off to Tanzania, so hopefully I'll get to practice) so I could maybe be of some assistance if you need anything, but I'm still beginner-intermediate-ish.
I'm not really familiar with the FSI Swahili material, or any FSI for that matter, but I would recommend the books Teach Yourself Swahili and Spoken World Swahili (by Living Language) if you can get them. Also, I just recently found this Swahili dictionary, which is extremely helpful. There's also this good online dictionary.
Good luck!

Thanks ellasevia, good luck to you as well. I will start sometime later this week, and will post a separate log. I will probably not have more than an hour per day at best, so not expecting much other than some fun.

I am gonna be starting Hebrew tomorrow, if you have any recommendations before I begin I would be happy to take it, I'm a beginner and I wanna be able to have a conversation in this language at the end of this challenge. I just met a really cool guy who is from Israel and it would be fun to surprise him with his native language.
