Awesome! Quite a few people expressed interest already. I didn't expect that much
interest considering that it's not a major European language - but it will definitely
be fun!

I would love to join the January Dutch Challenge. Thanks very much for organising this!

I just posted my first log entry for my Dutch studies: http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?T ID=24020.

Hello guys,

You can count me in for the January challenge for Dutch. As I'm a blitz-krieg guy I always love learning languages very concentrated in a very short time :)

Regarding to Skype you don't need a webcam to be able to speak there also with the group chat if you're not a paying member you cannot use your webcam anyway to show yourself (And I guess everyone in the group is required to pay for the webcam option if they want to show themselves). I don't think that webcam is necessary either. On the other hand IMHO it would be good to have a topic to talk about at least in the beginning. For example the first session talking about yourself, second one what you did during the day/week and what you are planning to do and/or what you do generally in a day, what you are planning on doing, third session talking about your country and its culture etc. This way it may help to get to know each other and eliminate the awkwardness of speaking to a stranger on skype (at least it would be a bit awkward for me to be honest :) )

I'm also totally up for recording myself onto camera and publishing it on youtube. Probably I would also read a out loud all the exercises that I'm currently doing in addition to talking about some topics.

I have already "Dutch in Three Months" and "Taal Vitaal Voor Beginners" (with the workbook). I haven't got any knowledge about the language but I would probably aim to finish these books within these 6 weeks.

I'll also be emerging in 7 languages from today on but nevertheless I like this challenge :) At last I can make use of the books that I've purchased long ago!

I guess you can count me in !!! Now , what would the goals be??
I find the idea most interesting...
But how about the different levels?
I mean, it seems to me that Sprachprofi is quite fluent in dutch (according to her website)... so what should a beginner do for this challenge?

I am in no way fluent in Dutch! I don't see how you got that impression. About six
years ago I did the first lesson of that Viennese online course, but that's the extend
of my Dutch studies. I will be starting from scratch. I cannot form a single correct
sentence and I know very little about Dutch pronunciation. However, since I know
German, I can already guess the meaning of a lot of words. That's why I will use my
active abilities as the true test after this challenge.
