Friends, Romans, countrymen! Here is the place where anyone interested in a combined
French and German team can sign up. You don't have to be at any particular level - you could be a complete beginner in both - the only requirement for now is that you must be studying at least French and German for TAC 2012 and be committed not only to updating your log reasonably regularly when time allows, but also to checking in on your fellow team mates' logs once in a while. As the following people have expressed interest in a French and German team in the TAC 2012 Official Thread, I have added their names and the languages they will be focusing on for the TAC to the team's list. If anyone feels like taking the reins from me at any point, just go ahead and take them. If not, I shall carry on adding or removing people from the list of team members as appropriate. This thread could become the central place for the team to post about personal milestones in their languages as well as the place to handle any other administrative stuff I haven't thought of yet. Okay, so as of 8th December 2011, the team stands thus: LanguageSponge - French, German and Latin. Spanky - French, German Bjorn - French, German Cavesa - French, German, Spanish oziohume - French, German Adrean - French, German Jinx - French, German, Catalan. ReQuest - French, German, English. Crush - French, German acriter - French, German Acut - French, German Nsan - French, German I am very much looking forward to working with you all this coming year - if anyone has any suggestions then go ahead and post them here :] Also if you have any ideas for a more inventive team name or a motto, go ahead and suggest away! I suppose it doesn't really matter how we come up with a name. In TAC 2011, the French and German team (of which both Jinx and I were a part) made the "name" by combining two special characters used in the languages in question - ÇÜ. One way of naming the team seems to be stuck in my head: When English words are used in German, we call it "Denglisch" - and when English words are used in French it's called "Franglais". My suggestion, which may or may not be any good, would be to combine Français and Deutsch to create a word along these lines - Freutsch? I've actually just looked it up on German Wikipedia, and apparently, the word "Frutsch" has existed since 1980 at the very latest. I quite like this idea, but what do others think? Hi all,
I am looking forward to being part of this team. Thanks for organizing the thread Jack. I really like "Freutsch" for a team name, but I am completely fine with whatever the rest of you all may decide for a name. I anticipate being really tied up over the next couple of weeks, but hope to have a bit of time over the Christmas holidays to get myself organized and ready to begin applying myself energetically to both languages at the beginning of January. Hi Spanky, We will all inevitably be busy with non-language related things over the next couple of weeks and no doubt during the year as well. My period of relative inactivity, that I know of, will begin in mid-January and end in mid-March. I am enrolled on a CELTA course during that time and while I will be trying to get as much language studying done as I can, my main concern will be passing my CELTA course so I can get out of England soon afterwards. Once I'm qualified, I will be aiming to go to a German- speaking country to teach English there. Fun times :) Any more thoughts on a motto, or any more name suggestions?
