I've finished reviewing the textbook Papiamentu for Beginners yesterday. In one week i'll
be arriving in Curaçao. Even though my focus is not cultural tourism, I think I'm
competent, if not sociolinguistically, at least linguistically to be able to interact
with natives and avoid English amap. I also hope the fact I'll try to speak papiamentu
will represent a little more caution and attention from salespeople, clerks etc =D

This translation into Portuguese goes to iguanamon and Kuji, to thank them for all the
support and to help encourage them learn Papiamento one day. It's an upbeat, high
spirit song. I tried to avoid the English translation and do it directly into
Portuguese so you guys can compare the two languages.

Haha... this is awesome!

I'm about to teach a class soon, so I have no time right now to go through this. But I just wanted to say thanks!

- I've started to read the poems by Quito Nicolaas at the sike Jukaproductions. Most of
the stuff there is in Dutch. This author just released his first novel entirely in
Papiamento, and I plan to buy it in Aruba. I don't know if it's just his first novel or
actually the first novel ever. I hope it is the former, even though the ads I get on FB
make me think it is the first novel ever. Anyway, he has some short tales which I'm
going to read online while I can't get the book. Today I read the poem Bida Virtual
- Read 3 news items
- Listened to the song Johnny Blaze feat. Biggy Boy - Arte di Amor (found it too slow,
I was expecting some speed up which didn't happen)
- Watched the video Right Track Car Solutions @ Seroe Blanco

I have the impression that it is hard to focus on listening to the news in Papiamento,
because it is almost like doing it in my native language! When we watch TV in the
background, we don't pay attention unless we overhear something interesting. I think
that it's just what happens when I play some news videos in Papiamento, I tend not to
focus because for me it's not like studying, it's just listening to TV in the
background.

Thanks, Expugnator, I can really see how close Papiamento is to Portuguese and Spanish here. My barber is from Aruba, we always speak Spanish when he cuts my hair. After I put Haitian Creole and Portuguese to rest, I may just take up Papiamento.

I'm still working on my Portuguese currently. I'm taking an online class on the Vargas era with a Fundação Getúlio Vargas and working my way through the novela "Gabriela" with my paulista tutor. I'm also enjoying Telecurso 2000 teleaula de língua portuguesa do ensino fundamental, which is intended for native speakers, on youtube. I am enjoying your native language so much. There's a lot to explore. I still learn something new everyday and it's fun.

Hope you enjoy your vacation in my part of the world. Watch out for COPA. The plane I was on last year to São Paulo made all kinds of strange noises, se me lembrou muito de um ônibus, mas não era tão bom assim. O ônibus entre o Rio e São Paulo era muito mais moderno!

Obrigado pela música e boa viagem pra você!

Valeu iguanamon! Ouvi bons comentários sobre a Copa, espero que não tenha nenhuma
surpresa desagradável.
