I fredags tänkte jag skriva på svenska här, med jag har studerat för slutprov i kemi kurs. Jag gick upp i examen på onsdag morgon, med jag är inte säker på att jag kommer att klara. Igår läste jag en intressant tidningsartikel om spikmatten. Idag översatte jag två sångar till engelska. Jag ska skriv mer senare.

I'm writing in English today, because I've been a little lazy yesterday and today. I've been focusing mostly on Swedish for the last week, and also reading too many other threads here; but I needed a break from heavy studying. I'm also preparing for TAC 2010 by gathering resources and working out a new study schedule. I've also realized that I need to set clearer goals for myself otherwise I won't make much progress.

I've also decided that my 'dabbling" language will most likely be Latin. Since it's not really a spoken language anymore, I won't have to care as much about pronouncing things correctly. So I'll need to gather resources for Latin.

How much will 'dabbling' involve? If you can spare three hours total a week, join my Latin class and I promise you that you will be reading Caesar, Cicero, Virgil & Co in the original by July.

I knew I'd made a mistake here; the first sentence should read "Idag översatte två sångar till engelska." meaning I had translated two songs into English. Unfortunately my computer had problems again yesterday when I tried to post one of the translations here, so I'll try again tomorrow. Today my brother is coming to visit for Christmas so I've been busy preparing for his visit and only managed to read a little bit in Afrikaans and Spanish and did a brief grammar review of both languages.

I've finallly stopped worrying about Swedish pronunciation and just started listening to spoken Swedish. I plan to focus more on Finnish this next week, as it's now my weakest language. Christmas will of course mean losing a study day or two next week, but it's an important holiday so that's fine.
