1. 'Iść czy Jechać' by Józef Pyzik. Details here. Tons of exercises for the most commonly used verbs of motion. 2. 'Przygoda z gramatyką' by Józef Pyzik. Details here. Over 400 pages of excercises! Minimum waffle, maximum practice. Both books have answers to the exercises. I only just got them myself, so I've not tried them out yet, but they seeem to be just what you're looking for. Plus a few online sources: 3. Polish Proficiency Test by Transparent Language. 4. Glossa. 45 minute test. 5. Mission Kraków. A choice of German, French or Polish 'missions'. Interactive, audio with easy tests. Fun, not hard. 6. State Certificate Exams for levels B1, B2 and C2. You can download sample tests. An ancient żubr family motto: "Drill, drill, drill. Week 7 - Semana Siete - Tydzień Siedem
El Español No hice mucho estudio de lenguas la semana pasada ya que tuve un amigo de los Países Bajos que se quedaba conmigo y pasamos el tiempo juntos explorando la ciudad, comiendo de todo y jugando el ajedrez en las umbrías de los parques que dan un poco verdor a la ciudad. Nosotros dos (por primera vez) más algunas otras amigas fuimos a un restaurante coreano donde uno cuece los carnes o verduras que manda sí mismo sobre un gran tazón de cerámica lleno de brasas, era una experiencia estupendísimo y la comida estaba de la más rica que he probado nunca. Todo fue muy sencillo, pero hecho perfectamente. Lo recomendaría a todos. También me llegó un nuevo disco de música española de Argentina de Mercedes Sosa contando las canciones de Violeta Parra, el disco se llama Mercedes Sosa - Homenaje a Violeta Parra, y es un disco increiblemente bueno, fenomenal. Sosa ha llevado las canciones de Parra y las ha hecho sus propias, pero todo hecho en una manera respetuosa a la gran compositora chilena. No puedo creer lo buenas que son. Así que si se te presenta la oportunidad de comprar o prestar ese disco, hazlo. No te arrepentirás. Además descubrí otro compositor de Argentina hace unos días mientras viendo las noticias desde Sudamérica. Luis Alberto Spinetta, ‘el Flaco’, como se lo conocía. Era un hombre prolífico y muy respetado por su estilo único de música, y por lo visto, era uno de los primeros que escribió sus letras en español. Por desgracia la semana pasada el cáncer del pulmón se le llevó la vida pero su música sobrevivirá los siglos y siempre será conocida y escuchada en Argentina y por el mundo. Estudios - Empecé a leer La Ciudad de las Bestias hace unos días y ya puedo decir que me gusta mucho, a lo mejor porque no me cuesta leerlo en absoluto y la mera capacidad de entender todo es tan emocionante, ya que esta es la primera vez que he sido capaz de leer sin tener que saltarme ninguna oración o detalle importante, sólo una palabra aquí y allá. A causa de eso he podido sumergirme por completo en la trama y los caracteres, y la trama tiene todas las cosas que me excitan: la naturaleza, el viaje, las lenguas, las tribus, sus mitos y conocimientos de la tierra y las plantas, y la desconocida. Ayuda que Allende es una escritora muy buena (a mi parecer) y puede dar vida a casi todo. Ya he leído los primeros 7 capítulos (70 páginas) y a este paso, voy a acabarlo dentro de dos semanas. Polski I wasn’t able to get much Polish done last week as I had a friend from The Netherlands staying with me who I hadn’t seen in quite some time so I spent my week hanging out with him. However I did do a good hour and a half last night and it somewhat felt like the break may have done some good, as on reviewing my anki things seemed somewhat clearer to me and more graspable. Not sure why, but perhaps it gave my mind a bit of time to sort out and become familiar with all those unfiled constructions, verbs and prepositions which I had incessantly been throwing at it and make some more space for the Polish which is to come. In any case, I’m feeling good. Also managed to find some good grammar references, one of which has quite a good amount of exercises. So think I will begin with that once I’ve finished my Colloquial Polish book which should be in the next 2/3 weeks. Het Nederlands Dus als ik boven al heb gezegd, had ik een heel goede vriend vanuit Eindhoven wie afgelopen week met mij blijven was, en heb ik hem toegezegd (bijna) dat tijdens de komende winter zal ik hem in Nederland bezoeken. Ik heb nooit een witte winter gehad dus als ik genoeg geld kan sparen, dan zal ik er zeker zijn. Spannend! Wat ook betekent dat rond het einde van het jaar, als alles goed uitpakken, zal ik een paar maanden van echt Nederlandse studies doen om genegen te zijn voor als ik in Nederland aankom. Wat zal heel goed voor mijn Nederlands zijn. Okè, ik denk dat ik genoeg fouten voor vandaag heb gemaakt. Tot ziens. -------------------------------- Mooby - Thanks for that Mooby! Als ik jou was zou ik me maar niet al te veel verheugen op die witte winter. Het weer hier is tegenwoordig zo onvoorspelbaar dat je helemaal nergens meer vanuit kunt gaan. We hebben sinds een aantal jaar soms heel bewolkte en broeierige zomers en zachte winters en dan opeens sneewt het op pakjesavond, wat ik nog nooit in m’n leven had meegemaakt. Dat was vorig jaar en dit jaar was het juist heel warm in december en kregen we pas tegen het einde van januari ineens sneeuw en ijs, zoveel zelfs dat iedereen het begon te hebben over de elfstedetocht, die al iets van fijftien jaar niet meer gehouden is. Week 8 - Semana Ocho - Tydzień Osiem
La Cebolleta de Ajo Cuánto me encanta cuando despiertas por la mañana, haces un poco de desayuno y un tazo de té, vas al patio para disfrutar del sol de la mañana temprana y descubres que hay unos ramos salvajes de cebolleta de ajo creciendo tan bien desde los huequecillos que existen entre algunos ladrillos que están en el suelo, sin ninguna ayuda de nadie. La Naturaleza, ¡cómo me anima! Acabo de trasladar unos bulbos a una maceta llena de suelo muy bueno para que tengan más espacio y nutrientes y así pueden crecer fuerte y de forma sana. Estudios - He leído un montón la última semana, casi 130 páginas de La Ciudad de las Bestias. Estoy leyendo capítulo 14 de momento (¿cómo se dice ‘to be up to’ en este contexto?) y busco acabar el libro para el fin de la semana. Anki tiene 3612 cartas. Antes de que me olvide, quería compartir unas canciones de los artístas de los cuales escribí la última semana, ya que ¡los he estado escuchando harto! Mercedes Sosa - Qué He Sacado con Quererte - qué voz tan única, tan poderosa, tan conmovedora. Nunca será olvidada. Violeta Parra - Qué He Sacado con Quererte - La versión original de la muy impresionante compositora chilena. Mercedes Sosa - Gracias a la Vida - en directo con subtítulos Pescado Rabioso - Las habladurías del Mundo - El álbum de que viene esta canción, 'Artaud', es estupendo de veras. Polski I didn't do too much last week as I was rather busy preparing for the first week of uni and catching up on stuff which I had previously gone over. Nonetheless Polish is still firmly in my routine, but the real challenge will come during the coming weeks, now that I've started uni again. I'll have to find a new daily rhythm and hopefully one which will allow me at least an hour of Polish study a day. It all depends on how strenuous the classes which I've enrolled in become, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see and use my time wisely. Het Nederlands Surprisingly I actually did a bit of vocab work last week and added a bunch of words to a new Dutch anki list that I've created, seeing as though the first one (and first ever) that I made around 2 years ago was riddled with rather useless words for the beginner/intermediate stage and so I'm starting again purely with the essential verbs, adverbs, conjunctions and whether they're subordinate or not, adjectives etc, before I start adding things like the Dutch word for passionfruit or the stuff that accumulates at the bottom of your mug after having your 7th cup of tea for the day. Also wrote a few little emails and things to people over in Nederland, and also a bit of writing to my mum. Also my friend who was staying with me a few weeks ago said that he'd send me a 'proper Dutch book' from one of the 'big four' as I gave him one of my English books for his travels, I forget their names but his descriptions of the books and the writers themselves sounded quite interesting. However I'll definitely need to get my Dutch up to a far superior level before tackling any of those. They'll be good for the old motivation. But to be honest, I just love speaking the language with the Dutch people that I know or meet, I'm not sure why, but it's very satisfying and fills me with a deep happiness. -------------------------------------------- Renee - Hmm, dat klinkt niet zo goed. Wel ik raad dat de enige ding dat ik kan doen is hopen dat alles goed uitpakt en dat de winter niet zo erg zal zijn (en hoopelijk dat het sneeuwt een beetje in plaats van regen). Ja ik heb gehoord over de echte hete zomers die zijn gebeuren (have been happening?) deze afgelopen jaren. Mijn vriend wie net hier was hebt me verteld over de elfstedentocht, en hoe als het alleen twee of drie meer dagen had gesneeuwd en de temperatuur onder het vries punt was gebleven dan konden zij het doen, maar helaas was de ijs niet dik genoeg geworden en dus gebeurde het niet. Dank je wel Renee, Ik duim ervoor ook! Het hangt alleen af hoeveel geld ik kan sparen, als het geld er is, dan zal het gebeuren. Klein vraagje, wat betekent ‘hebben over’? ¡Hola Amerykanka! ¿cómo te va todo? Sí, me está gustando un montón, pero como dijiste creo que parte de ese
disfrute radica en el hecho de que es escrito en español y me da mucha alegría poder leer por fin, aunque sea para adolescentes, algo en español sin muchos obstáculos a causa de no comprender algo, que pasó bastantes veces cuando leía su libro de cuentos. Pero sí, es un libro muy entretenido. ¡Que te guste lo que te queda de ello! W Klasie Polskiej Właśnie skończyłem (zrobiwszy - doing?) moją matematykę na dziś, i teraz mogę zaczynać robić trochę polskiej pracy. W przeszłym tygodniu miałem moją polską lekcję w mieście i obejrzeliśmy biernik i narzędnik, ale tylko w liczbie pojedynczej. W lekcji musiałem przeczytać do klasy pracę domową, że nauczycielka nam dała, o czym zrobiliśmy w weekendzie. Zrobiłem kilka rzeczy w tym weekendzie, że były mało niepospolite, takie jak zebrany parę jabłek w górach, więc inne studentki nie mogły zrozumieć co zrobiłem. Lekcje chodzą mało wolno, które jest dobre, bo potem rozumiemy wszystko, ale teraz zaczynają się przyśpieszyć, który lubię. Myślę, że jutro spróbuję napisać list po polsku do mojego dziadka, który mam nadzieję mu da trochę zaskoczenia, dlatego że nigdy nie widzi/widział? mnie pisać niczego po polsku. I just finished my maths for today and now I can start doing a bit of polish work. Last week I had my Polish lesson in the city and we looked at the accusative and instrumental case, but only in the singular. In the lesson I had to read to the class the home work that the teacher had given us, about what we had done on the weekend. I had done a few things that weekend that were a little uncommon, such as picked some apples in the mountains, so the other students weren’t able (would have prefered to say ‘found it hard’ - but don’t know how to express that yet) to understand what I had done. The lessons tend to be (go) a little slow, which is good as then we understand everything, but they’re beginning to pick up now, which I’m liking. I think I will attempt to write a letter to my Opa tomorrow in Polish, which I hope will give him a bit of a surprise, seeing as he’s never seen me write anything in Polish (I know there’s serious problems with that sentence but I hope it at least gets the idea of acroos). 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

"Have been happening" is nogal moeilijk te vertalen omdat het onvoltooid deelwoord nou eenmaal niet zoveel wordt gebruikt als in het Engels dus moet je een zin vaak helemaal omgooien om het niet al te onnatuurlijk te laten klinken. Hetzelfde geldt voor "I guess" of "I suppose", wat ik zelf ook om de havenklap gebruik maar ik kan met geen mogelijkheid een manier vinden om dit goed te vertalen. Het ergens over hebben betekent alleen maar dat je ergens over praat. Het is eigenlijk veel meer voorkomend dan "praten over". Ik zou in ieder geval veel eerder zeggen "waar hebben jullie het over?" dan "waar praten jullie over?" 2 persons have voted this message useful |
