Ironically, the part that I've listened-read while the challenge was on counts as 7 movies :)
OMG no, I have so much to do but I now wanna watch the first movie, to kinda close the circle you know.
Someone at goodreads also recommends reading HP in the reversed order, I think I will :-) Not sure when
though. Can't wait to reread the 6th book, it's still my fave <333
BTW... is it a problem for anyone else that you can't watch a movie with your family members (because they
don't speak the language :D) but don't wanna watch it alone? I've watched several HP movies "together"
with a friend while discussing it over skype, and it was fun. would anyone be interested? :) we don't need to
watch in the same language, lol.
I know I'll never watch the last part alone ;__; |

You mean like having movie night but in different countries at the same time? That sounds like a brilliant
idea. I remember we once had a Friday night party at a gardening forum I was at, and we had a blast. This
was before Skype, so we were just chatting, but we all got together in front of the computers at 10 in the
evening with our bottles of wine and had a great party. My husband who has never seen me drink alone
before or after got really concerned when he first had listened to me sitting alone in front of the computer
laughing my head off, and then come out after a couple of hours with a half emptied bottle. Given the age
of most of the people on the forum pop corn would probably be more appropriate though. I don't have any
HP in Russian, but if anyone is up for movie night with Twilight, I'm in. Hm. May have the first HP as a
video somewhere though...

Update 1.0. I'll do my reviews from a language-learning perspective.
Flics:
1. Séraphine (Martin Provost, 2008). A
biopic about French naive artist Séraphine de Senlis. Dark and moody, with a great
performance from the lead actress; was a bit slow towards the end. The dialogue was
straightforward, without a lot of slang and idiom. I could understand most of the French
with the help of subtitles, so this was a good 'B-1' level movie.

I discovered this thread now! I hope to be able to post some progress here soon as well. I have nothing to brag about so far. I was going to watch a Ukrainian movie, but realized it was actually Russian, and then found Легенда о княгине Ольге among my movies and had to start watching that instead...

I loved that one! I watched it a couple of days ago, but not as part of any challenge (note to self: consider signing up for the French Super Challenge). By now, my second row of suggested movies on Netflix is titled "Movies with a strong female lead," lol...
I tried watching Going Places (Les valseuses) that same night, but had to stop after what they did to Jeanne Moreau, so I never got to the part that had the young Isabelle Huppert (and it sure felt as if she directed that movie...).

I had a speaking/writing night; 60 mins with my tutor discussing 'the challenge' and when I got home I wrote up the notes for my big ASC and this morning wrote them again for the SC+.
Have now borrowed a number of films to watch.

Well, during my first day Harry Potter movie marathon I only got through 4 of them, but Wednesday and Thursday I watched 3 more. One left to go.
I also devoted several of hours each day to reading and just completed my first book, a collection of short stories (107 pages) for beginning students of Spanish. I have five more easy beginner level Spanish readers to get through, three from the thrift shop and two downloaded to my Kindle from Project Gutenberg. Then I may be ready to tackle the first Harry Potter book again. It took me many months to wade through it first time. Hopefully it will go easier the second time.
I'm tweeting my completions, but I'm also keeping a log that I can cut and paste here when the time comes to make the final tally 20 months from now.

I got mine at WalMart and one of the disks did not have a Spanish language track on it. I went back to the store and checked the backs of the packages and some had Spanish and French and some had only French tracks and others had none. Very strange! I was able to trade in my Deathly Hallows Part 1 disk with no Spanish for a copy that did have the Spanish track.
