Sorry but I have another technical question...

how do connect hyperlink to text in this forum and on learning log posts? I can't seem
to figure that one out. (Is it HTML code that I use?...do I hardcode hyperlinks?)

thx
niels

[URL=A"]B["/URL]
A: website address
B: Hyperlink text
(Remove the "s - I put them there so it will display the code instead of making a
link.)

It's good ol' BBCode.

Awesome! Thanks for the information!

cheers
niels

I thought it wasn't even possible for newbies to make links. I thought there was some automatic restriction to make it impossible in order to reduce spamming. Or does writing them yourself rather than using the button get you around that problem?

I think it actually doesn't affect the proper links. Most spammers tend to just write a bit of text and paste a link.

Is there any interest for a "dead" language team (Latin, Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, etc)?

And there is also a second Scandinavian/German team opening up, right?

Team Sparta consists so far of people studying Modern Greek, but I don't think they are opposed to having members learning Ancient Greek.

There are new teams forming for both Scandinavian and German. If they don't gather enough members by themselves, the new teams will be merged with the original teams.

Shall I put you down for one of these teams? Which one(s)?

Anyone studying any version of Greek is welcome at team Sparta, and I am also extremely proud to be able to announce that ellasevia has agreed to be our Godfather. Now I know we are gonna rock!

I guess that fact and a very kind PM from LanguageSponge tip the balance in favour of me applying for membership in Team Sparta. Ellasevia and I were almost together on a Greek team in 2011 but it didn't come about back then.

I'll be very busy for the next few days but I will introduce myself in the team thread and create a new log as soon as I can.

I’ve been thinking about the sign-up deadline. I was asked earlier to move it from the first week in January to further out in January, which I did. However since then many teams have grown much larger than expected and now have a potential second team/waiting list forming. I don’t think it would be fair to those people who are waiting in small groups of perhaps 3 or 4 people to be kept waiting. Since TAC starts on 1 January, I think they should know by then if they are going to have their own team or if they are to join the first team.

I haven’t changed it yet, but I think the cut-off date should really be considered 1 January in the cases where there is a waiting list since that is when the challenge starts. After that, people could still join teams that are willing to take new members, but teams that are full are full. I can’t keep a small group of people waiting to find out what team they will be on just so that late-comers have the chance to join. If you come to the station an hour late, you can’t expect the train to be waiting for you.
