Does it matter that you're behind? I've got ~300 reviews and ~800 unseen cards in my
vocab deck right now and I've got maybe 200 unseen sentences in my sentences deck.
It'll take me a while to catch up (especially as I'm currently mining the lower
intermediate series and I'm only 40 lessons into what I think is approximately 170
lessons). But I'm learning and reinforcing vocab all the time and that's the point for
me.

I guess that the draw of Siri is too much. But ever since I saw the mem for しり on
memrise, I can't stop linking iPhone => buttocks ,,, :-)

Yeah essentially I'm telling myself that if I make the goal of just doing 100 cards and if I achieve that then I'm making really good progress. Even if the overdo is several hundred... I often look at the amount of over do and my knee jerk reaction is that I'm failing and that I won't learn my vocabulary etc.
I used Siri I think twice since getting my iPhone last spring. I am gonna check and see if I can make it do Japanese and keep the rest of the phone English. Maybe I'll use it then. But I was doing other things like Facebook and lang-8 and looking at other websites and playing with the iRadio jPop station and watching Crunchyroll etc..
I've checked out memrise but don't use it too much.. I guess 尻 しり is a homonym for Siri now that you mention it heh.

Siri works fine in Japanese without changing the language of the phone. And she only responds to 尻 lol. I'm
gonna try to have more conversations with her later she seems to understand my accent ok.
I'm trying to work in kanji studying again. Before I was ambitiously trying to learn the sounds of the kanji but
I'm going to take this step by step I think and just do the meanings again. I'm adding some vocab to the deck
but it's just incidental I'm not testing myself on it for now. So I have the ambitious goal of doing all of the due
furigana + kanji to English deck every day, 100 of the English to Japanese, and then some of the heist
drawing deck and some of the grammar production deck. I'm not sure how I'm going to do the latter 2. I think
I'm going to just set a time for each per day and go with that. I'll have to work out how much time. Any time is
already kind of a lot with the amount of vocab reviews I do. I don't count reading or watching Japanese
towards my study goals since I don't rewatch the same thing to improve my learning - it's mostly just for fun
and relaxing.

I hit through the recognition deck. I think I was a day behind already since I was so tired Sunday. So that was
200 reviews... Didn't do any if the production deck or grammar or kanji writing. Darn. I could do it now but
getting more sleep is high priority for me.

I signed up for JLPT N3 for December 1st in San Francisco. The weather isn't too bad there in December. It's
probably nicer in Tucson to be honest but whatever. I'm kind if excited about seeing the city since I haven't
been.
I'm watching an anime right now called space brothers. It's predictable but funny. I'm also starting. Diet again.
A year and a half ago when I started Japanese at the community college I did that and I eventually gained
back half the weight (could be worse). Gonna set that right. I'm hoping I'll find energy to study between, work,
exercise, and not eating enough... Gonna remember to drink lots of fluids and maybe start drinking tea. Lots
of tea.

Heh the diet thing really doesn't help me focus on learning. I skipped dinner and it made me so tired I went to
bed early.. Literally had a dream that I would die if I didn't eat food immediately .. And couldn't really shake
the dream until I'd gone to the kitchen and eaten. Then my mind cleared and I could focus a lot better and got
some SRS reps in.
However, I'm gonna stop testing English to Japanese. I just don't have enough time in the day to do it. I want
to try cutting back on SRS and do more reading... And by making the deck easy (kanji and furigana) I can
add more vocabulary to it more quickly which should keep me more interested.

Skipping a meal is one of the worse things you can do to loose weight. Your body reacts
by absorbing even more fat from your next meal.
Try something easier: Smaller meals several times a day, at least 6 meals a day, if you
can fit them in, more. Breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack, dinner,
evening snack. It might be harder in the beginning (specially when you don't really know
the size of the meal you should eat) but soon you'll find yourself pretty satisfied until
the next snack (if you're still not really hungry, then you ate too much in the meal
before). I realise this is not the right place for this, so if you want to discuss this a
bit more or want some other tips and suggestions, feel free to PM me. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I've heard about just snacking throughout the day as part of a diet. Yeah it makes
sense not to let yourself get too hungry so you don't go doing something stupid like eating large portions of
cake etc. And I've heard skipping meals is bad because your metabolism adjusts. I guess I'm not sold on the
latter but it's hard to do and I just had a nightmare lol as a result so I'll not be doing it.
More importantly for this log, I'm seeing how my blood sugar had a real impact on my ability to focus and
study. Dieting to lose weight seems like it's going to make studying require even more discipline. I had hot
chocolate last night and it really helped me focus a lot. But I want to lose weight so I have balance it
somehow. I suppose drinking half the cup would have been one way. The hot chocolate I get is delicious and
seems to pack in more sugar than if you just used regular sugar from the bag. So I need to find ways to
snack to study effectively.
