I made a new deck. It's got kana on side one and the sentence audio on side 1 to go with it.
It seems interesting. The anime is mostly ripped from anime but I don't have too many cards
yet.. A couple hundred so far. They're a pain to make but I'm hoping I get faster. And I'm
hoping the words stick better since I'm listening to the same sentences over and over and
they're not super simple sentences like on iKnow. It makes me think. So far I have 2 episodes
from 進撃の巨人ん and half an episode of Log Horizon. I'm hoping it also improves my listening
skills.

My cards are dirt simple and it still takes me maybe 5 mins to go through a lesson and
make 10 new cards. Just where do you find the time :-)

Where did you find Japanese 進撃の巨人 subs?
Why don't you replace the English subs with German subs? That's what I've been doing
when something is way beyond my league (like attack on titan).

I mostly find time on the weekends. Tonight I managed to add 25 or so more cards from log
horizon. It took nearly an hour all said and done. Yeah it sucks. I hate putting the time in.
I'm hoping I find it all worth it. And I don't always have time on weekdays to do this. We'll
maybe I have time but not the energy. At least listening and ripping the audio I do feel like
I'm getting something out if the process of making the cards. It's a cliche that you learn
more by making flashcards than studying them but that's never been the case for me regarding
vocabulary.

I get my subs from kitsunekko.net. Or I just use google and hope for the best. I might try watching it in German to make it more interesting. With the N3 coming up I'll hold off on that till after though. I'm really ignoring my other languages for the time being.

Things aren't working out for me at work and I might even be needing to look for a new job.. really not good for right before the N3. My dad suggested I look into teaching English in Japan. If I could pull that off I'd go from being bummed out to pretty darn excited really quickly. Would be nice.

I can see that. Really, I know nothing about this other than I hang around with a lot of people who have spent time in Japan teaching English. But, given this economy, that's an option.
What seems to be impossible, though, is to survive in Finland unless you're fluent in the language. I read several accounts of expats in Finland mooching off of boyfriends/girlfriends. and things.

I read part of a book about a guy in Japan who sort of did that too. Well, he wasn't totally unable to support himself but he was sort of in a pinch and relied on help from his Japanese girlfriends at times and he talked about the same sort of thing happening with some of his other expat friends. He's a published author now so I am sure that's pretty much behind him. I think it was a Year of No Money in Tokyo. I'm not all that good at charming women so I doubt anything like that would ever happen for me lol. If I were unemployed in Japan for too long I'm sure I'd just get a plane ticket back to the US where I'm guaranteed to get at least some level of employment to pay the bills.
