Still doing the multiple guess thing on my flashcards. there's some features on my flashcard app that I
haven't exploited but I'm going to start. As I mentioned I can get correct responses on cards that I barely
recognize. So I'm flagging these cards. I went through a couple hundred cards and 70 of them I flagged for
more review. I have my app on my ipod (and ipad) and so I walked around with headphones and the app
playing the cards that needed review to me. The app can do this while music is playing in the background so
I don't lose my sanity. Some of the words are starting to stick - only did this for a day. I can also test myself
on these flagged cards too later if I want.
Tomorrow is the final for the course I'm taking. I bombed the last listening quiz - so sad I was possibly going
to get an A in the course with the grades I pulled for the 2nd half. But this was an F =(. I don't know what
went wrong - I sometimes get dyslexic and put the opposite response of what I intend (when I know the
correct answer - yes it's frustrating when this happens). I haven't had that happen in a while and it only
happens when I'm extremely tired but that day I was really exhausted. Or it might have been that I didn't
understand him when he read it. I have meant to record the listening quizes all along but have yet to
remember to bring the recorder. So I won't know if it was my self destructive dyslexia or if the test was just
too hard. I'm not actually dyslexic (that I know of) I just seem to turn dyslexic occasion.
Tomorrow is final day so I get the opportunity to redeem myself (there's a listening section). I'll bring the
recorder for sure this time.

Final is done XD. Freedom. I'm exhausted. I didn't sleep last night and it's stressful the day of a final. I'm
gonna miss the class, but I can use the break. I'm already registered for 201 in the fall. I almost started
doing reviews tonight but gave it up - I'm doing anime instead. Just got caught up on Hunter X Hunter and
I'm now getting started on Phi Brain. I am using subs although I'll give subless another shot in a few weeks.

I have that same problem. I don't know about tests, but it happens when I write and speak. I put in a "not" or an "un-" when there shouldn't be one, or take it out when it should be there. When I do this in speaking, even though I might notice myself, it is very hard for me to correct it and make it come out the right way. I keep trying to say it the right way, but just repeat what I said the first time. Whenever I write something, I try to read through and correct those things, and that usually goes fine, but if you ever see a sentence that seems to be the opposite of my main point, that's why.
And it's probably not much comfort, but I'm sure we've all bombed tests.

Thanks. I don't care as much as when i was pursuing my degree though thankfully. I was sort of competing
with a classmate for good grades but the semester is over now so I'm more focused on summer heh. I
already bought the textbook for next semester, scanned it into my iPad, and I'm reading chapter 1 tonight.
Yes I killed the book to scan it but I think it's worth it even though I can't sell it back. I'm trying to figure out
the best dpi for Japanese textbooks and my iPad. 300 dpi is pretty nice and it loads quickly. I'm just a tad
frustrated zooming in on a couple complex kanji. 600 dpi is incredibly detailed and I can zoom in and read
kanji in the pictures of advertisements that I have no business being able to read. But it's a bit sluggish to
load. I'm thinking I'll scan the whole book again tomorrow in 400 dpi and see if it's a happy medium.
Not sure where all this motivating to read the new textbook already is coming from but best not to squander it
heh.

I'm studying my RTK deck in earnest again. Basically except for a few spurts (namely spring break) I just ignored it. With the exception of looking up stories for specific kanji that I saw in the vocabulary in class. I hope to get through most of the RTK 1 kanji over the next month. Technically I have read up through 1850ish in the book but I haven't learned all those kanji so I'm doing a review right now. Then I'll finish the book off. And I'm finding that I might want to do RTK 2. It seems I'm always thinking I can skip something but then coming back to it later to learn it. I think it would help a lot to know the sounds for the kanji. This seems like a huge, slow, and boring endeavor though. When isn't it. Anyway, I'm not starting it up yet - I wanna finish off the meanings of all the RTK 1 kanji first and I'm not sure how long that will take. But I'm thinking about ways to tackle it (can I download the RTK 2 PDF free per Google like RTK 1?)

Most people tend to skip RTK 2 since it's very boring. I'm sure you've heard "learn the
readings through learning words" before. Well, that worked more for me than RTK2, but
RTK2 bored me and I never got really far into it. It has a lot of vocabulary words, so
that's the only real reason I kept it.

I'm not sure what I'll do regarding the sounds and possibly RTK 2. I'll likely give it a shot. A classmate of
mine said that studying the different sounds helped her a lot so I'm gonna try it. I'm giving up on the multiple
choice thing. It wasn't challenging me enough to remember I don't think. I'm now trying to think up stupid
mnemonics to remember each word. English words that vaguely sound like the word or part of it etc. it's a bit
of a stretch on several and sounds repeat so much. Oh well. I'm focusing on this N3 vocab list still.

I ended up with an A for Japanese 102. I'm a bit surprised considering I bombed a listening quiz. I had good
grades except for that though - plus I did extra credit so I guess the A makes sense. Unfortunately I have no
idea how well I did on the last few assignments we passed in on the day of the final or the final itself. We
apparently don't get those back. With an A I guess I can't complain though.
Also I broke down and ordered RTK 2. I don't know how far I'll go with it but I guess it was inevitable that I
would at least order the book. I'm keeping up on my spaced repetition N3 deck reviews which I'm pretty
impressed with - I kind of went nuts and have 813 active cards out of the 3000ish in the deck already. Not
sure when I'll add new cards to the active list. They're sticking better than I thought they would. I test myself
so I see the Japanese and then think of the English. Flashcard mode (multiple choice was too easy and
while I gave up before knowing for sure that it didn't work I doubt it would get results). Watching anime now
before bed - Phi Brain. Seems like I pick out words better every time I watch (but so gradual who knows).
