Aww crap the top student by reputation in our class told me that
she's thinking of not doing the speech contest this year. That would
be a big let down. I'll have to get on her case go make sure that
doesn't happen. That said I need to start thinking about what I'm
going to so. Or I'll be wanting to do the same thing lol.
In terms of my studying I'm keeping up on my reviews pretty well. I
haven't added all of the new words for next semester yet. Mostly
professions but basic stuff you'd definitely want to know. I'm thinking
of getting zelda in Japanese for Nintendo DS because I heard that it
has furigana for all the kanji which is awesome. I don't know of any
other games that do that. I'd rather get something more current for
Android or ps3 or xbox bt I don't know of anything.
I've kept up with the grammar srs cards that I made which is
awesome. I need to make some for review for older grammar and
add more and what not. It's so important. And i hate grammar so
much. Also,I just learned a couple shortcuts on the romaji input. To
for ち and to for つ. Every but helps.I swish I could type well on an
actual japanese keyboard layout...would cut. The keystrokes in half
about.

Well I have not made as much progress this weekend as I'd hoped for Japanese. I guess my big dilemma
was which phone to sell on ebay. It's such a hard choice lol.
One of the biggest things I use the phone for is flashcards on the app srs app. Makes me wonder how I
learned languages before I had a cell phone. I get to thinking how comfortably the phone sits in my hand
and can I use it while lying down in bed and using it one handed etc. Silly. Whatever.
So I got through some vocab but didn't do the grammar reviews and got through a lot of this anime I'm
hooked on. It sort of reminds me of Hikaru no Go which is one of my favorite anime ever. This one is called
chihayafuru. I don't even know the name of the game they're playing. It's a little like go in that it's strategy
game but I have more respect for go. But this one looks fun. If I were to play it it would be a boon for my
Japanese. I'll have to look up the name later. 4am and I'm still up. I hate how a good anime series does
that to me.

Once you are able to get hooked on a show like that without subtitles, you will love it, and it will do amazing things for your Japanese. Despite the late nights. Well, that's what weekends are for!

heh その通りです。 (I was double checking that in the dictionary.. I hate words that make the long vowel using a double vowel instead of an う.)
I'm using subs but I'm listening as hard as I can to the Japanese. The game is カルタ or 歌留多 (or a number of other kanji spellings). It looks neat. I wanna get a set of cards XD. The ones in this anime look like they either have hiragana or furigana on them with the kanji. And it seems to have a lot of history behind it. No idea how much respect the game gets in Japan.
I'm almost done with the series at least for episodes on Crunchyroll. A friend mentioned that she didn't like how the series left off. So I'm not looking forward to that. Oh well.

Finally posted on lang-8 again. Short entry. I have only glanced at
the responses. Part of me thinks that the people get cofused over
stuff I wrote because they're reading too fast or something. But
usually it's probably me.
I finished my anime series and well I saw in one of the comments
that it's starting back up in January. (the last episode was in spring
so I wonder why the hiatus). I tried reading the Manga as I was really
into the series but I couldn't get into it. No Japanese and it's not quite
the same as the anime so it was a little confusing.
I'm watching another Anime. About basketball and it looks old. Not
wide screen and low definition. But the plot hasn't bored me yet so
I'm hoping I like it. I'm a bit behind on my flashcards today. Did
someoof the decks earlier but still others I've ignored.

Well I'm proud of myself. Watching this series and the translations aren't all that American. I'm guessing they're a little Japanese. The show just ended and I was looking at the subs thinking.. huh? Translation was something like she's a junior from my middle school. But then I heard 後輩 and I'm like oh underclassman. I get it. (When I say junior I think of a 3rd year high school or college student). My ear's getting a lot better at staying in tune to the rhythm of Japanese. Still got a ways to go and more grammar and vocab will help but it's slowly getting better.
*edit*
I'm signing up for a German course this spring semester. It should be below my level. Overall anyway. My grammar isn't so good with German and I'm not sure I can even recite the alphabet all correctly. (Somehow mundane stuff like that just doesn't stick.. which might be why I hate counters in Japanese so much).

Well I'm signed up but add drop doesn't end for a while so I can back
out. We'll see if I'm still interested in a few weeks (in tackling 2
languages at once)basically I got kind of bored last semester just
doing japanese since the class wasn't so challenging. But this
semester we do 4 chapters instead so it'll be more work.
I was watching anime before bed last night and without subs and it
went well. Some high school romance anime.

Merry Christmas. My family had its get together a few weeks ago which worked out well for me so the s
Christmas I guess I'll be studying. Or watching anime at the very least. Bah humbug right. Unfortunately
I'm sort of forcing the studying since I've been staying up late and I'm exhausted after work. But on a
positive note I finished off making the grammar flashcards for chapter 4 . They're helping I think. I want to
make srs grammar cards for the old stuff I know as a review and especially because I don't know all if it so
well that I can fluently use it in conversation even if reading it is not a problem.
I'm taking more time to learn the vocab for chapter 5 than I expected for yookoso. Somehow all the job /
work vocab seems to blend together. I'll study it and learn it and then the 2nd review forgthe day ill still
remember it but then the next day its all gone. Frustrating. I'm hoping it all starts sticking in longterm
memory better and soon. I'd like to move on already lol. Well I'm thinking I'm gonna take a nap. I'm always
drowsy for the rest of the evening if I do so... Might try to resist. Anyway I'm happy with progress at the
moment.
