NEWEST ITEM - FILM
9. Keinohrhasen June 1st (no subs)
Now I have seen a few weird films in my life, but this is, without a doubt, the weirdest I have seen ever.
I looked it up and found to my immense surprise, that it was a box office hit, and was the sixth most succesful film ever in Germany.
I can only say one thing: I obviously do not have a German sense of humour. I am not much in favour of slap stick humour with too much bodily functions involved, and when the only scene which really made me laugh, was one where a woman vomits all over the guy she just had sex with, it says a lot about the film...
It got slightly better towards the end, but the first half hour was awful. It almost made me long for the none to bright American series we have been watching in French. And I really did not think anything could make me say that...

I have written a periodical update for the top contestants of The Super Challenge, you are welcome to take a look!
PERIODICAL UPDATE
It would also be great to have your 1 month's status. Have you begun, what do you like the best, what has frustrated you the most, what is the strategy for the rest of the challenge?
Edit: EmailQueen, Blackdahlia and Cartouche - you have been added to the list of participants. Welcome to the party!
Go Super Challengers - old and new!

German Super Duper Challenge
writings:
1. Assimil German with Ease Lesson 44, copied, May 31, 2012
Right now, I am finishing Assimil French with Ease and working through German with Ease, so most of my writing will be from that, since I copy each lesson by hand. I find that I learn better through writing and copying things, anyways. I already have a notebook full of French and two from Spanish, but most of that is from before. Also, I will stop counting Assimil as my writing once I get to 50. At that point, I will only count writings that I have produced myself.
I also got my Harry Potter Bluray Disc Set in the mail this week from the UK. It has 10-15 audio tracks per movie, and 25-30 subtitle tracks. I anticipate I will be having a lot of fun with it. They have audio and subs in Dutch, Swedish and Catalan for most of the movies - all three of which are on my long-term hit list..
Speaking of Harry, my friend's daughter (the one I am learning German with this summer) is over for the night, and all the girls are insisting I come watch the movie with them. The first one, which I have watched four times in the past month. haha
Hopefully June will be even more productive for me. This challenge has really motivated me a lot!

Movies:
5. Buffy contre les vampires, 1.05 & 1.06
6. Buffy contre les vampires, 1.07 & 1.08
7. Buffy contre les vampires, 1.09 & 1.10
8. Buffy contre les vampires, 1.11 & 1.12
9. Buffy contre les vampires, 2.01 & 2.02
Yay! I can finally understand enough of Buffy to just veg out and watch it, with
an occasional question for my wife or quick glance at a transcript. So I'm going plow
through the entire box set pretty aggressively.
I really like the actor who plays Giles in the French version. He's just so… pendantic.
Books:
1. Five bandes dessinées:
Siegfried
Siegfried : La Walkyrie
Astérix Le Gaulois
Astérix : La Serpe d'or
Tin Tin : Coke en Stock
My reading spead took a big jump in the last week or two. Tin Tin tends to be very
text-heavy. Siegfried is excellent, but there's less text than Asterix.
I have several other half-finished books which I need to work on soon.
Conversation:
Non-stop use at home.
Lots of DELF B2 productions orales.
Several more language exchanges on Skype.
A short conversation with some friendly French speakers at a wedding.

1. yes, shortly after midnight on May 1 :)
2. uninterrupted reading for hours.
3. that my total goal is 300 "books" but i've read just 8. not a huge frustration really...
4. no real "strategy" but i'll slow down with Polish after Euro-2012. In fact I wouldn't want to complete almost anything before December 2013, so I'll happily do one book and film per month after my sprint :) Will probably complete the Italian "films" part already this year though, but Italian is so thoroughly embedded in my daily life that I don't think it'll be a problem.
I'll also try to do 6WC/Tadoku mostly/only in my super challenge languages. I hope to improve my "books" score significantly during Tadoku and just off-6WC. I'll do a lot of AJATT reading.
also, i can't imagine doing it all if i wasn't in harmony with my monthly cycle.
2a. if you meant the specific materials i liked, that would be:
-wszystko czerwone in Polish
-Russia-Italy 3:0 yesterday ;)
-selective rereading of HP
here's the full list btw...
Also thank you for the nice words in the periodical summary ♥ Funny but I really admire the one who did the same amount of stuff but in just one language. I've been focused on Polish the way I hadn't been on any language since I was a beginner in Finnish.

UPDATE #8
Haven't updated for a while, so I have several things to add: 4 French films and another Hindi film. I also read a short French book, so it counts as a third of a book; I'll be reading it again after I study some of the vocab I marked in the book.
FRENCH FILMS
1. French in Action Lessons 2-4.
2. TV5 shows (1 hour 40 mins total).
3. On choisit pas ses parents.
4. French in Action lessons 5-7.
5. Cartoons on TV5 (about 2 hours in total).
6. French in Action lessons 8-10.
7. French in Action lessons 11-13
8. French in Action lessons 14-16
9. French in Action lessons 17-19
10. État de manque An enjoyable if shallow comedy.
FRENCH BOOKS
1. Assimil New French with Ease.
2. Max et Mathilde en vacances.
31 page book: Rémi et le mystère de Saint-Péray. Listened to the audio on its own at least 4 times.
HINDI FILMS
1. Dhobhi Ghat (Mumbai Diaries).
2. Coolie A classic Amitabh Bachchan film from the 80s. I think it was only really a hit because the big A nearly died during the filming of it. The film pauses and a title comes on telling you the exact moment he was punched and sent to the hospital.

Just finished my first book - "Die Tribute von Panem 1. Tödliche Spiele". It took a whole month to get through 322 pages (according to Kindle page count).
Although I was reading extensively and didn't use a dictionary a lot (I still haven't found a good German dictionary for Kindle, all that I had tried don't handle an inflected forms very well) I feel that my ability to understand German text, especially usage of separable verbs, has tremendously improved (even without understanding every single word).
Well, it's 9678 pages to go :)
