Hi,
I signed in the first Romance team when it was created.
However, I noticed I'm already reading and commenting the logs of several members of the
2nd team. Thus, I concluded it makes sense that I move to this second team
(besides, the size of the 1st team will be closer to the ideal 15 this way).
Sorry for the inconvenience, Brun Ugle.

Brun Ugle, , Quique has also signed up for the second Romance Languages team (tentatively called Pax).
Assuming my arithmetic's correct, and depending on whether Anya's actually on three Romance teams (the second
Romance Languages one, plus the individual ones for Fr and Spa), and whether Darustet is going to the French-only
team (as I think he preferred), we may have one last spot left (or none? depending on whether Darustet opts
to be/move to French-only) on Pax/Second Romance Languages team.
I'm not including Cristina (or Serpent, who enquired about "associate membership") in the tally, by the way.
Edited: Oops, sorry Quique; I composed my post before I'd refreshed and seen yours. You're included in my tally
of Pax members.

Hi Brun Ugle, I am not going to ask for any changes or discuss any decisions. I just want to say that I find your organisational skills amazing and that I really admire your courage in taking on this task. This is my first year in HTLAL and my first TAC, so I don't know how it worked in previous years, but I do now that I would go totally nuts if I tried to keep track of everyting the way you do. Just wanted to let you know.

I just don't understand this sugar-coating. As far as I'm aware, there's exactly ONE team that is/was a mess, not the whole TAC. For most other teams, this is just fixing what isn't broken.
Other than the obligation to elect a team leader, I'm not even sure how much the new rules have helped. Without the 15-ppl rule they actually had hope of getting some experienced members.
Also, each team has its own identity. Most "second teams" won't really know if they need to develop their own identity or just wait. Let's at least be honest and call it a waiting list in most cases? Although it's even better not to discourage newbies by keeping them in the dark about what team they're allowed to join.
The thing is that there are roughly three categories of members in any team: the elders, the newbies, the middle ground. It seems fair to consider them all equally, but I'm very much against fairness for the sake of fairness.
Again, let's be honest. Up to a certain point, the more elders, the better (and that point is NOT 15 elders. more like 5-7). I believe team Viking members have posted a total of 10-15k posts on this forum. So if a couple more long-term members want to join, they'd better start a team of their own. On the other hand, the newbies are only a problem when there's a whole team of them. If they are put on a would-be team, they're even more likely to disappear.
Realistically though, this is how it can only be in the beginning. By now most elders already know in which team they want to be, so the chances of new teams to survive are fairly slim.
My suggestions for next year: discuss TAC in the Senior forum first. Preferably, no team should be so elitist that they get a bunch of elders and then close the signups, but it SHOULD be only long-term members that start teams.
For now... any senior member who is ready to try and fix you-know-who should be allowed to join and given free cookies!

Somehow I have this image of the corporate turn-around artist on the lines of Lee Iacocca. Maybe that person should also be offered a year's worth of Pro Membership for free in addition to the cookies :-)

That's what I thought of, but if anyone can actually contact the administrator that's not the highest priority.
